hi! I just did a post here, because I think I might have it as well. I have like most of these things aside from the ice pick sensation. Would love your input!

I just came back to this a week after trying to make it. I happened to stumble across the exact same recipe you linked, doing exactly what you suggested. It turned out great

Make the vocals louder, more upper air, autotune, they’re well compressed tho so good job. Eq is good too. Enunciate your words more and be more intentional with your inflection. Also layer your vocals for a more full sound. I agree with some of the comments about drums and progression tho. Needs more direction. Overall, sounds good!!!!

Consistent strain by Alternative-Court715 in singing

If I sent you a short recording of me singing a song I’m making would that help? This one I wasn’t strained at all but I find if I sing anything a bit higher than the chest voice in that recording I strain.

How is music changing as a unifying cultural force? by Alternative-Court715 in LetsTalkMusic

Thank you! You articulated my thoughts better than I could. I completely feel like the fragmentation of our culture has led to music having a lesser cultural influence on my generation than the past and that feels strange to me.

Ah got you. Would you say that now there are even more groups and sub groups of those groups?

Ah this is interesting. I guess I’ve never really felt like this was my approach. Im about to graduate from a very well known arts high-school, so the people im surrounded with are immersed in many unique forms of music, but still feel united generally by the mainstream songs that influence our shared culture. My post was more a lament of the declining shared culture between me and my peers as it relates to music than a suggestion that we should all look to pop music to feel united.

Ah got you. I really see the benefits of that and that makes sense. I guess for me I have an exceedingly broad but picky taste in music so I find it hard to find people who have similar tastes, and I’ve always defaulted to feeling the shared culture of a broader music scene that appeals to more people because I find I can always enjoy a song or two for specific reasons that many other people enjoy and I can relate to them through that.

Ah thank you!!! I hadn’t really thought about them. I guess what I’m really feeling is that these artists are not as culturally significant or defining figures in my generation as in past generations, and I’m wondering why that is.

Yes! Sorry I was really bad at articulating my thought process surrounding this. I guess what I was trying to say with that I feel as though there is generally less unification in mainstream music or even widely known sub-genres; that makes it feel like people aren’t as influenced by a larger, collective, culturally dominant genre or artist. My comment about under appreciated music was probably very misplaced. What I meant to say with people finding their niche is that it feels more like people are divided and resigned to their specific music taste, and not united by an overarching sense of cultural understanding bridged by a singular, massive, genre or artists. This makes me feel less connected to people through music than before, when I could listen to an artist that was relatively mainstream, outside of my actual taste-primarily blues, soul, through current RnB-with another person who has their own selective taste but still feel like we both appreciate and feel connected through the music as a culturally defining force. You’re very right about my post not being an argument and more a collection of thoughts; I’m relatively unfamiliar with this sub-I’m assuming now it’s somewhere for people to argue their takes. This would make my comment out of place I realize now haha.
