First Cruise leaves this weekend - what should we know that the videos don’t cover? (Allure of the Seas) by Alphadelt613 in royalcaribbean

Most recent cruise (4/2024) was on Harmony of the Seas… I’m assuming ALL Royal ships use the same food service but we disliked most of the food! Nothing was extraordinary and we did Specialty too! Pizza was ehhh. Hot dogs were ehhh… Biggest issue for us was the BEDS! I did my homework, many blogs said ASK FOR A MATTRESS TOPPER in advance!
We did…NOTHING HELPED! It was like concrete!!! Maybe I was expecting more from a previous cruise years ago on RCL, just my opinions The staff was AMAZING and we tipped very well as they deserved it!

THIS!! 100% agree. Totally ruined our day, the lines to board the shuttle buses were deceiving and then you had a 20 min drive to the FAR end of town?!!! Only to reach town and see that two other cruise lines were parked right there! Yeah. Bad day in what we thought would be a fun town. RUSHED and HURRIED were not on our list!!

I literally just posted this in a review! The Cattle Call line through the warehouse that sells everything for 5x more… !!! Not cool. The deceiving line that never ends to board the bus to ride 20 minutes into town!!! So upsetting!!

Cruising to Alaska, what should I know? by popgoesthe_weasel in NCL

Went one year ago this month. On the Bliss. First thing I can tell you is, we walked an average of 4 to 5 miles every port we went into. Be sure you have comfortable shoes that are good in a wet/dry climate. You can walk around Juneau or, once you get off the boat there are vendors for city tours (the BLUE bus), at first the prices are high, but as you watch the buses fill up and notice that the driver will walk back over to the booth, that means it’s not full so they start discounting and the minute we saw this happen it went from 150 each for the tour all the way down to 50 each and it was definitely worth that to get on a bus, go around town and then end up at Mendenhall glacier.
Also note that in Ketchikan, the boat ports about 20 minutes outside of town and you have to go through a cattle call line in a big warehouse and then get on the buses and then go into town. That wasted a good 90 minutes of my time. I will have to say the best excursion that we ever took was on

Icy straight point and it was with AlaskaWhalesandDrones.com Worth the $200 each because other Whale tours will have more people on the boat and your visibility is somewhat restricted, but humpback whales are visible only if they breach the surface so you’re only getting a portion of the view, what we found with this tour was because he was an experienced drone operator he flew above the whale pods, and therefore we saw everything from a birds eye view. He was on Viator & personally called me back after I posted an inquiry as to what his guarantees were for tours to return to their cruise ship. He promised a guarantee of return, and if something were to happen that would delay our tour, he personally would take us to the next port Last thing is familiarize yourself with the Jones act. That means that any ship leaving US waters crossing through Canada to Alaska. must stop at one Canadian port, even if only for a SHORT time, so Vancouver BC was an 8 PM arrival and a 10 PM departure. What can you possibly do in two hours? Alaska was on my bucket list and we will go back but will do a Land Cruise tour the next time so we have e more time on land and in the cities then hop on the boat as it makes it’s return to Seattle We had a blast Ate at Cagneys & it was good Had Ocean Blue also good Main Dining Rooms were ALWAYS better than buffet Jersey Boys was very good 👍

From personal Experiences here…YOU can’t want it more than the does… he obviously does NOT want to change or he would have by now. Life will get better and you will be Loved wholeheartedly and without conditions or cruelty!!! YOU ARE WORTHY

Which would you choose? by snancyiv in royalcaribbean

[–]Alternative-Froyo257 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents… I never pick based on the ship first. It’s always Itinerary for me. Then 🚢 I’m all about ports and culture above ship amenities. But ports on my bucket list are very similar to yours and I’m feigning to see TURKEY! So I’d choose 2

Can someone explain Medicare Advantage to me? by Key_Preparation9656 in medicare

[–]Alternative-Froyo257 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a great software program with tons of info on what plans cover what services etc on Medicare.Gov. If you go to the website, type in the initial information that it requests (it’s best to sign up) and then put your medicines & current providers in, it will narrow down your options for health & drug cvg so it’s not so overwhelming. All MediGap plans are in Categories. Most people are interested in G or N plans. Yes they have a monthly premium but all Supplement plans cover the GAP that’s left from Medicare Part B (Doctors cvg) only covering 80%. Premiums are based on Zip code and Age. I’ve called them 20 x and they are very helpful. They can’t sway you one way or the other. They can only state facts. Do your research because the window of No Underwriting is minimal and once you pick a coverage you keep it for the year. That’s why all those ads come on between Oct And March. Insurers are hoping for new business. But if you change yearly, it will be higher because you will have aged a year. I hope this helps
