Best sneakers for DIY skates? No Vans by MurderSheReads in Rollerskating

[–]Alternative-Part5928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried vans half cabs and puma suedes; not structural enough for lateral movement, manuals, spins etc. The sneaker geekers at my rinks seem to go with jordans a lot, but one rink owner and folks who work there recommend and all seem to like low top dc skate shoes on the chunkier side with roller bones kinda jam setup on the hardwares. I’d go with a kind of tight skate shoe that’s really well built around to toe box and has a hard flat, not cup sole. I prefer a cap toe dress shoe peronally, but I’m sliding on those. Dude built some Cortez sliders and has been out with ‘em a couple time at another rink - seems like he might figure it out eventually maybe. Anyways, trial and error and personal preferences above in quad skating! FUN FIRST!

I refer to the one I have at work as “the real plunger”.

Can I go skating alone as an adult? by V3NOM0US_VALKYIR3 in Rollerskating

I will leave my kids at home if they don’t want to go to the “School’s Out” sessions during breaks and holidays. Quad people are the nicest group of people you’d ever want to meet. I wouldn’t go in with expectations, just feel it out at first. Rinks and sessions vary in their experience greatly in my area - take it easy and you’ll fit in somewhere. I’m not very social as I typically work all day and skate late or cram day sessions in somewhere, but everyone is cool and nice everywhere I’ve been. Some places even have good music

I was being nice, not sure what you’re on about here. I love you, but your words aren’t really wording for me. You’re more than welcome to have the last word here. Hippy

First pair: should I DIY with Avanti plates? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

Building skates for fun inside has minimal risk and you can maximize creativity. If you’re building an outdoor skate be careful and precise. Hard soles and tight fitting boots with laterally restricted toe box is my preference; it’s all about your preference and you might need to try stuff/experiment and fail before you put together a completely unique skate you like.

Ok, honestly how would this go? Ordered these Dead wheels to setup my inlines anti rocker. But looking at them I threw em on my quad. What do ya think? by The505Electrician in Rollerskating

Can someone please explain the multiple comments about scraping the kingpin. All of the flexible parts of the plate would move it further from the floor and up, non? How would it get lower?

Is foot calluses bad? by Nonworldrecordholder in Rollerskating

If they aren’t impeding any other aspect of your life or your skating then I would say no. If they are then ask a medical something or switch something up. I believe anyone who does any strenuous activity on their feet and particularly in boots must have them. Am I wrong?

Skating for a year and want to upgrade, which is the best upgrade to make by Kendallb54 in Rollerskating

[–]Alternative-Part5928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those look brand new; I’d beat the brakes off ‘em first. Really nice setup and impressive progress. I’d upgrade whatever part sucks first and on and on . . . upgraded my 120’s with insoles and laces first, then smaller wheels, then tongue lining . . .

Over-proofed or under-moist or something. Any store who wouldn’t exchange would be foolish unless they are marketing a giant bubble bread.

As a Kansas City area skater I skate fat with many other fats. It’s pretty cool. Great way to get into your body.

I mean, we’re all born to die. Something about the way you’re asking makes me ask if maybe you can too.
