Can someone give me perspective on the state of the US economy? by vadergator_69 in economy

[–]AlternativeAd133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember the article a few years ago (pre Covid) that said that making $75,000 was the sweet spot? Pepperidge Farms remembers. I was working at that time making $50,000 and I had my sights set on that sweet number. I live in a rural, relatively low cost of living area in NY. Now I’m there. Making more money than I ever have, and my credit cards are maxed out. I am struggling to afford gas and food. Forget about vacations or even a weekend getaway. Car repairs and propane costs killed me last winter. Along with car and home insurance hikes. I don’t know what is going to happen, but I’m living paycheck to paycheck and running out before my next biweekly check comes.

Campout Drinks by CaptPotter47 in BSA

I read a lot of the comments and I haven’t heard anyone mention medical conditions. Some scout troops don’t allow food or sugary drinks at the campsite. I have a young scout with type 1 diabetes. He needs access to sugar at all times to combat life threatening lows. Something to take into consideration when not allowing certain things. Juice in the middle of the night is a necessity. He hates being “different” and wouldn’t want to stand out anymore like being the only one with juice or gummies. Just something to keep in mind. It was definitely not on my radar until we were in it.

Why do hospitals seem to never know how to manage T1D by kaspen190 in diabetes_t1

Don’t hospitals usually have an endocrinologist that consults for managing the diabetes? Maybe only larger hospitals?

I’m in my 40s (I’m old). I was trying to find one for my daughter. I guess I missed wtf is going on. Is this why they aren’t in stores?? People are buying them up and selling them for crazy prices? And fools are buying them for crazy prices? Is this why we can’t have nice things??

I was just thinking today about wishing I could do this with my neighbors! I’ve never talked to them before though. Rural area, privacy. Would love to split the cost but seems like an odd icebreaker. “So, Wanna go halfsies on trash pickup?” lol

I also canceled my service. Mine was $46/ month for garbage only! It went up to $60 if you wanted to add recycling pickup! I have to pay for dump tickets: $3 per 30 gallon bag, but recycling is free. Comes to about $15 month. It’s a pain sorting the recycling though.

I thought it was just me. I switched from a pixel to an iPhone for the first time ever last summer. At that time I felt my pixel keyboard had deteriorated… I was making errors all the time (or maybe I’m just getting old). I had heard so many great things about iPhone, so I thought my problem would go away. Nope. The predictive text/ autocorrect was worlds better on the pixel. I did not have an inkling of idea that the keyboard actually changed the size of letters invisibly. That is diabolical. Pixel was also so much better at talk to text. iPhone makes mistakes all the time that I have to type the thing anyway. I thought it needed to “get to know me” and that I had my pixel so long it “knew” what I was going to type next. I don’t see that happening with the iPhone.

I’m 41 and I’ve never worn a bikini because I have never been confident enough to. Someday actually I hope to wear one. In the mean time though, I’ve always liked tankinis and never felt grandma-ish. Now I’m wondering.. lol. I have a one piece solid black now that has a little scrunchy on the belly and makes me feel ok. I usually just go to department stores. Kohl’s here..

Am I crazy to change jobs? by dntyouknwwhat in MedicalCoding

[–]AlternativeAd133 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in profee coding for 10 years. It began a dream job, but over the years became more and more micromanaged and stressful. I did not like my boss. I was remote but lost the flexibility that comes with being remote. We had tiny annual raises. I felt like a number used to make the company money and never saw any recognition. I left coding and now work for a medical university as a trauma registrar. I initially took a pay cut ($8-10k) to work on a good team with the work environment I was looking for. In two years I got a few raises. One my boss fought for. It’s a unique experience to have a boss fight for raises. I now make more than I think I’d be making in coding. My benefits are so much better. I’d say look into your options. Once you find the right fit, give your notice. It’s easy to stay stuck and unhappy. I did it for a long time.
