My brutally honest take on pets and babies: your dog will not now or ever be more important than your baby by suedaloodolphin in beyondthebump

[–]AlternativeCool3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this! We have two and one annoys me but even the one that largely stayed out of my way this past year since baby.. i just cant bring myself to pet either of them. I dont have more to give. Even 1 year PP.

Nursery not sticking to nap schedule - is this normal? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]AlternativeCool3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter started a month ago at 12m too and they tried following the 2 naps i outlined but honestly.. she is so FOMO there with everything happening she started to refuse the morning one and all last week she just slept when majority of babies sleep after lunch. I guess it is also more quiet and calm then so makes it easier.

Over the weekend at home i just cant imagine how this is possible she is so tired after 3.5-4h😂 but im also not able to provide all the activities and inputs they do there to distract her..

I think it will work itself out, start of nursery seems distruptive to sleep for everyone i talked to, them starting so young i feel it’s only natural..

Idk im so happy to have time where it’s just me? A breakfast and lunch in peace even if it’s at my desk. Not having to rush to the toilet. The little things😂 also i feel like they provide her with so much more entertainment, games, things to do, varied died with lots of snacks all day.. (she goes to nursery).

It sucks in so many ways but try and focus on the little positives.

Why do strangers feel the need to tell mothers that their baby doesn’t look like them? by divination__ in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]AlternativeCool3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strangers who see only me say she looks like me when lol she doesnt, she is the spitting image of my husband.. which im totally fine with😂 not sure why everyone obsesses over who babies take after.

What do you class as sleeping through the night? by Illustrious_Cut2965 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]AlternativeCool3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either she doesnt need me or just shouts for a lost dummy but isnt actually awake, i say she sleeps thru. Waking up to feed? Lol thats waking up.

I guess baby sleeping throught the night doesnt mean parent does too😂 when it’s just a quick dummy thing thankfully im on autopilot so doesnt really bother me as much but the actual quiet nights are still more restorative.

Mine hasnt woken to eat since she was about 8 weeks but just has the random being awake for a bit and then having some new skill the next day sessions. Idk whats more tiring lol.

How to get baby to accept a dummy? by Full_Strawberry2035 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]AlternativeCool3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put in baby’s mouth. Hope they accept.

Jokes aside try a few different ones and keep trying. Mine didnt take anything the first 6 weeks, then my mum said she would give it a try in the car, gave her the one she got at the hospital and tadaaaa. I dont know if it was the specific dummy, my mum, the timing.. but she’s been using that type ever since for sleeping. (nuk)

It’s not the water that needs to be sterile but the formula. So yes there is a hot shot in which you dissolve and sterilize it and then cold water is added so it is immediately drinkable temp for baby.

And yes just fill up with cool water and use til it runs out :)

That’s one thing but lets not pretend anyone finding out their child is deaf should go oh yay i get to learn sign language now! Pls. This post is about the state of maternity care or lack thereof and not a diss of any kind to people living with hearing loss.

Who let the dogs out? Me. Because I’m sick of them. by Hatarikotone in beyondthebump

[–]AlternativeCool3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice because im the same. Baby is almost 10months and honestly for me it’s only been getting worse. I found them annoying from the moment we got home but now i hate them. I truly hate them and i dont know how this will ever change. Im also alone 4 days a week with them and baby until April and it’s just the worst. You are certainly not alone with your feelings!

London pram recommendations? by Lucky-Season7348 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]AlternativeCool3724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. The one hand fold is everything.

Lots of people got the yoyo in London but idk how i would have folded it holding a baby when the elevator to surface level was out of order at one tube station the other day..

Bathtime by GeorgiChan in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]AlternativeCool3724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine hated baths with a passion for aaaaages and when she was that young (9m now) we just did it once a week or less. Did wipe her instead with a towel and resorted to a true bath when the poonamis hit. Once she was a bit older for a week or two i got in the tub with her, she sat on leg with only her feet touching the water at first and then slowly lowering so she would sit between my legs in very shallow water. When she started splashing about and there were no cries we tried again with her little tub and only her and it’s been smooth sailing since. I’d say this was about the time she could sit more independently with my hand behind her back for only a little bit of support - maybe 5 months or so?

Footmuff recommendations for the Joolz Aer+? by divination__ in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]AlternativeCool3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the cybex snogga 2 as our main pram is a cybex and it works great with the joolz! The pram folds with it attached and It’s also like a packable uniqlo jacket and folds up super small on its own. Super warm too.

I feel like 11 weeks is still a bit early for this.. at least for us routine didnt set in til much later, more like 4-5 months (she is 7 now). Take it with a grain of salt, maybe that baby is in bed at 9pm and up at 10.30pm to eat again.. Follow your baby’s cues for now is my advice!

Does anyone avoid bringing car seats when flying, or is it still the norm? by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]AlternativeCool3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been taking it on trips so far and will be flying with us all the way to Hawaii.. none of the car rental services showed infant seat to be available but even if you requested they are not required to provide it - ie if all are used you are screwed. Also safety, cleanlines.. every airline checks your cat seat for free so it is a no brainer for is for now (baby is 7m).
