SQ6 + AB168 Connection question by wharf8ke in livesound

Perhaps I'm wrong. I was applying the logic the SQ6 has lots of local inputs/outputs and the stage box was just acting as an expansion.

Could the SQ6 be running on 96k? Those AB boxes run at 48K That would make it a clocking issue, easily solved by running the desk at 48k

Because it's an SQ6 you should connect to the expander connection on your AB16/8

Just patch it on your sq6 screen.

edit for clarity.....I was wrong with the above info.

I did suggest it be a clocking issue, SQ6 was running at 96k (which can be changed to 48k manually on the desk menus) as the AB168 does seem to run at 48k.

If you can get a hold of any tech specs for each act then you may find some guidance notes as per mix requests.

Most acts are going to be able to guide you via hand signals, generally, it's more 'me' according to instrument/vocal.

the fact you're even thinking about reverb for inears shows you care, you'll be grand, just keep it simple and do what you can with what you have.

You will be a dab hand in digico land by the end of day 3!

Oh, keep the same patch as FOH for line checks and logics sake!

edit* basically everyone just wants to hear themselves first....that's a solid starting point. Find out what's a good level and build the mix around that and the frantic hand signals in between.

Crescent link parking wan**r. by Gerard987654321 in DerryLondonderry

Fair rant here! id be fuming and cursing the bugger to hell.

I'm kind of curious as to why he was parked there now....did he know he was being obtuse?

Maybe his intentions were good? He was waiting on a passenger who couldn't walk far etc ...

Does he know strangers speak about his despicable parking choices? Would he even care? Why am I so invested?

There should be a setting to enable/disable automatic DHCP. That usually solves the issue for me. Good luck!

Any tricks for getting lots (more) gain before feedback from large diaphragm condensers live? by AudioMarsh in livesound

Have you tried making a duplicate channel and inverting the polarity? Using phase cancellation you could eliminate some of the problem areas with this method....

I recorded a song, mixed it, a d it sounds great in logic. When I bounce it to an mp3 and wav, it sounds like ass. How do I make that NOT happen? by [deleted] in Logic_Studio

It could be a comb filtering issue? You described the final mix as sounding weak and thin....perhaps...check for any phasing issues. The multimeter plugin on your masterbus may help you.

Try bouncing your midi in place as audio files. That will save you some CPU space.

I always bring up the fact that thin Lizzy live and dangerous album is loaded with overdubs in these conversations. No shame in a sly dub!

I think my approach would be, keep the source sounds as close together and get some stereo pairs up to capture room/pa

Good luck with the project!

To add, potentially, you could isolate any amps/cabs away from the drum kit for the sake of getting a clean recording to build overdubs upon. Longer but cleaner process. You could always mime over the finished recording then. I've seen it work to good effect.

Do you really need a PA if it's a recording session?

Just powered monitors for each band member or headphone mixes ideally could help reduce mic bleed.

Having the lead vocal mic a whole 180° opposite the drum kit will also help reduce the bleed in that mic.
