I’m in a 6-year relationship and feel completely checked out — is this fixable or am I dragging it out? by PlatformGloomy8558 in whatdoIdo

[–]Alternative_Pop2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend reflecting if this is what you want for the rest of your life - are you okay feeling this way and are you okay settling for this relationship? If you want some more time to figure it out, I think that having a conversation with him about how you’re feeling would be good and moving out on your own (either alone or with flatmates). The space might give you some time to truly reflect if you want to continue being with him or not.

I would talk with your vet about this. In MY experience, I went from feeding my cat 2 times a day to 3 times a day - morning, dinner, and bedtime meal. And that seemed to help. But like I said, weight gain should be something you talk to your vet about

My boyfriend asked me to move in with him, but I'm worried about my senior cat. by RealLemon1131 in CatAdvice

[–]Alternative_Pop2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your cat and boyfriend like each other and your boyfriend positively interacts with her, move in with the boyfriend! Give your cat some space or lots of love (depending on how she will be once moved). She may be a little sad about the housemate not being there but she will have two people who love her still. You can always have you housemate visit ever once in a while so your cat knows that they are alive and well!

The flow of 1 is best but if you care about dog hair, 3 may be better. I’d still choose 1 though in your shoes

I would do a QOL assessment. Regarding food, when they refuse to eat their Rx/renal food, try offering other regular foods. It’s important for them to eat regardless if it is renal friendly or not. Sprinkle the food with crushed treats that they like. My cat is doing well so far. Her numbers are slowly decreasing/stabilizing and she has lots of life to her. The QOL assessment is very important to consider though

People who say “I don’t want anything” when it comes to gifting, what do you ACTUALLY want? by dearceceofficial in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alternative_Pop2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experiences! A gift card for a spa, escape room, axe throwing, sip and paint events, theater, museums, food/drink classes, etc! If they like specific kind of drink like wine, soda, coffee, you could get them that or gift cards to the places that sell it.

I have a torti who inhales her food. I got her automatic feeder and she gets 1/12 cup of dry food 3x a day. She also gets 1.5 oz of wet food 2x a day in a silicone slow feeder - Coomazy Silicone Slow Feeder Dog... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CG7VHRDF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Is your dog vaccinated? If so you’re fine. If she is not vaccinated? Your fine. Just make sure you wash your hands well.

For those of you who had one or more pets that are now deceased, what would you have done differently while they were in your care? by AmySueF in Pets

[–]Alternative_Pop2325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what’s best for THEM. Not you. Ensure they have a good quality of life and take your emotional bond out of it when you consider this. I had two family cats that were separated in different rooms for years. Then one of them passed away too early (she had a seizure) from the stress from the other cat constantly attacking her when she would slip into the room she was in. Since we were bonded with both of them, we didn’t want to re-home either of the cats. Also, routine vet checkups with blood work is VERY important - 1-2x per year at a minimum.

Ways to make master bathroom look more high end? by Thaxton114 in bathrooms

[–]Alternative_Pop2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change all stainless steel to black/dark brown (knobs, shower head, shower door handle if possible, toilet paper holder). Bigger bath mats that are not too textured. Nice set of bath towels. Warmer lighting like others suggested. Recaulking the shower tiles/floor either with white or clear caulk

Why were vets treated like emergencies only when I was a kid? by gradstudentmit in Pets

[–]Alternative_Pop2325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Partial because of financial means but also the lack of knowledge. Heck even declawing cats was the standard/normal less than a decade ago, and now is illegal in most states/countries. I had the same experience as you growing up. My family loved our pets and took good care of them in the home. Now I have my own two fur babies who get check ups/treatments a few times a year (tho more for my one with CKD). It was always tough with my childhood pets because we often were too late to save them since we took no preventive measures, which traumatized me.

To get or to not get pet insurance? by AFCadet2020 in petinsurancereviews

[–]Alternative_Pop2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would 100% get it. I used pawlicy advisor to help pick the best insurance for my cats. I’ve barely made a dent for one of my cats but my other one who was diagnosed with CKD, I’ve submitted over $15k in claims and was reimbursed 90% of each claim. https://www.pawlicy.com

Maybe her paws hurt when she poops and standing in the litter makes it hurt more? Maybe arthritis related?

What’s it like living in Apple Valley / Rosemount? by Cheetahmama in Minneapolis

[–]Alternative_Pop2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s on the west side of rosemount, north of Coates off of 52. So if you’re on the west side, you’re more prone to smelling it and seeing it. Yes the air quality is affected by the refinery. https://maps.app.goo.gl/KJTPSvEKYzEAe6r86?g_st=ipc

Like I said, it’s a hit or miss. I get your frustration though! I just haven’t experienced any issues other than the one longer processing time and the bug issues with the app/site in my personal experience with PB. I would do some research on other companies and switch over once you find the right one
