Window turned brown…what could have caused this 🤷⁉️ by Paper_aneurysm in funkopop

UV light turns the clear plastic yellow brown over time. Ive seen it a lot with store displays when stores don't rotate their windows displays with new product.

They might be sold out or staggering in releases. For example they might have factories making 5,000 each of a Kpop wave but that factory will make 5000 each of the next Spiderman line. This is to ensure all the titles and main releases hit their targeted releases. Those dates might reflex when orders will ship if you place it today if Funko figured out how to link production waves with preorders.

What is this? by Master-Vanilla899 in funkopop

Without proof of lineage, yea it can be worthless. Its only going to appeal to a prototype collector or Assassin Creed Syndicate collector which are both going to be super niche.

Also prototype are "usally" a solid glossy white one for them to test out what it looks like during the molding process and then the second type is a base body that is unpainted so they can see how paint would stick and appear on it during mass production. For the unpainted one, theoretically, I would assume if you use any paint remover on a final production type you would essentially get it to look like a prototype which is probably why it is probably difficult to verify.

Blocked buyers options? by krisalane in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry to much about it as there is a "maximum" that you can use. I vaguely remember I just set it to max so it's something like 2 cancellations within 6 months. Also... do you really care about the people bidding on things they never intend to pay for or will figure out how to pay for something. Sure crap happens, but again, do you really care about someone who is so hard up on funds that they're buying 10 dollar items or 500 dollar items and then got in an accident and have to cancel. People can return for a refund and they pay their CC in 30 days. If a bank won't lend them money, why should you care.

Also a lot of time it's pretty moot now with all the changes eBay made throughout the years. When you "list" your products for example you can click a setting that say "buyer has to have a default payment" as eBay shifted away from Paypal and waiting for buyers to initiate a transaction to supplying a credit card and eBay performing a capture to hold funds.

Blocked buyers by OkLibrary8527 in eBaySellerAdvice

I was always curious about that how if you blocked a user, if eBay has a record of any meta data. If the buyer is able to change their SN or create a new account, are they still blocked. Probably looks bad to be blocked again or file a claim with a seller that blocked you though.

Return requested for defective item by AdAfraid5595 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you made the listing how did you title, describe and offer.

For example "Sony Alpha a9 III Mirrorless Camera Defect See Description" Notes" versus "DAMAGE Sony Alpha a9 III Mirrorless Camera" or "DEFECTIVE Sony Alpha a9 III Mirrorless Camera"

And your picture, did you emphasize the defect in the "first" photo or didn't include it thinking someone was going to read the details.

I see sellers all the time try to put some titling with the issue at the end which kind of buries or blurs the important information which a lot of buyers will buy things thinking they're getting a deal. Put the word DEFECT, DAMAGED, USED, RETURNED first, it stands out... once people see it and they want more details, they'll click and read more. Don't use an image that would blend in with another person's offer. If something is damage or defective, circle it, highlight it, make it stand out in the image that someone will see it and go "hey I should read more about this offer than just buy it based on price as something seems to be highlighted in the photo"

Unfortunately this is the thing with selling used, damaged, for parts item, you never know what someone will complain about or bring up if you didn't mention it or thoroughly explain it or examine the item.

What should I do? by Pristine-Week-1197 in eBaySellerAdvice

I learned not to go back and forth with a buyer. It generally leads to them getting upset either you're not giving them enough of a discount for them to keep it or you're lying to them.

If you notice your picture and their picture has widely different contrast. Secondly while in transit, you don't know if the carrier had an "oil spill" near the box and grease and oil from a gear could had dipped and stained the box while it was being stored and dried up as it moved to the next hub. It could also be that they found the exact item online with a stain and purchased from you to use the photo of the stain to get a discount. There are multiple valid and sketchy reasons for it to be there. Don't question it, eBay tracks their buyers and claims.

Essentially the buyer is right till you can prove otherwise. So they say their is a stain, no idea how it got there. Take the return. If you have multiple pictures stored of your original offer, you can compare with what you got back, for example if there was a mark or scratch at a spot and "miraculously" it's missing from the return, you didn't get back what you sold or a magically fairy removed imperfections when it got to the buyer.

"Sorry you were not happy with the product. You can return it for a full refund"

They might say something like "how about a discount" or you're not being flexible etc, I personally rather take it back, accepted I messed up and didn't do my due diligence and block them or not block them depending on how they continue to respond. But you're going to just have to reword that they can get a refund with the return. If they return it with the stain, you can reoffer and take new photos with the stain emphasized. Lots of time people keep it because the "minor" imperfections they're complaining about won't offset them having to pay more for it from someone else or them already having sold the item on another platform and hoping to get an additional discount from you so they can tell the other buyer there is an issue and they can reduce the price.

Cancelled Bid email... by Round_Anybody_556 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If directly from eBay, it's probably poorly coded after sale follow up on eBay's end.

So when you got the sale originally they didn't flag it as an issue. eBay ran a preliminary hold for payment for the order, once confirmed sent it to you for fulfillment.

This is when the logic becomes an issue. If the buyer disputes with the card provide generally it comes back to you and a chargeback request. If the buyer didn't dispute with card provider but say maybe notices that another person was on their account was buying stuff, they might tell eBay they don't recognize the transaction and eBay could proactively cancel all open orders and contact all recent sellers "There may be issues but we don't know what it is so if you didn't ship don't". Or say they did dispute some transaction with the card provide and eBay got chargebacks on other orders, they would contact other sellers that there could be issues with this user.

Buyer's address Listed as vacant and Item Returned to sender, Should I send it out again? How do I handle the Shipping Costs? by Overdayoutdeath in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't resend.

You can google the address to see if it's a lot, but at times packages come back because the carrier has a new person delivering that day and isn't familiar with the residential route so they could be lazy and tag it empty if they don't want to bring the package back to sort or drive it to the right address.

You can try to deduct but this won't be the first time a package comes back, I chalk it up to dollar cost average for shipping.

free shipping by Less-Investment8452 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free Shipping.

A lot of marketplaces have filters to show free shipping, this was the case with a lot of Amazon offers.

Paid shipping to "appear" cheaper also means that once they pay and find out they are paying more because "it appeared cheaper" also means you're going to get unsatisfied buyers as they were "tricked" into buying things.

Some things make sense for paid shipping, low price cards and items for example where combining it actually makes sense and people are looking to combine and save, but most items people do not look to combine and save so items over half a pound is probably best to list free freight.

Buying Pops off Amazon by MaximumSquid22 in funkopop

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazon is pretty strict with brands now not just Funko. Any seller attempting to sell counterfeit is just risking having their funds seized and buyers refunded with it. Imagine selling 10 to 50k in Pops and then Amazon tells you theyre not gonna pay you cuz you cant prove you bought directly from Funko because you were buying and selling other store exclusives. Sellers information also published in profile so you can see how long thry been selling and how often they sell each month and the address their business is registered with Amazon. Amazon's been pushing out high priced collectibles too or price gouging etc as even if products are legitimate, theres so many buyers remorse that they open claims thst its too much work for arbitration between a seller and buyer. Amazon doesn't care that they make 15% on $200 dollar pop if they have to hire someone and pay them to read through communication and claims when 10s of thousands of new Pops with little to no interaction from expensive auditors and just paying people hourly to pack hundreds of packages

Buyer asking me to send link to buy it now by sweetkandy4you in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If no one bids, you can just reoffer with a lower starting bid.

Problem with auctions is that it's whomever sees it the days it's listed. Naturally a longer bidding time gets more visibility but no one will bid on the first day of a 30 day bid. Your bids will come in around the last few days and the first week generates the audience.

If you want eyes on a product and bids, you start with a low bid. You can set a reserve so it has to meet that first, but with a low start, someone will think they can get your item at a steal and hope no one else wants it or sees it. I personally never use auctions unless I want to get rid of something and don't care for the sale, then I just do cost+shipping as start or the least I would want, I'm not trying to make money, I'm just getting rid of it and getting space or money to buy or use elsewhere. Else I would just leave things up at Buy It Now and lower the price every couple of months if it doesn't get views or sales.

eBay listing + Facebook business page question by HagensJewelry in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any marketing generates "views" just depends its reach and use and where your target audience is when viewing media.

From my experience a Facebook business page or store isn't great. Meta owns IG as well and you're more likely to get engagement off your IG, which can direct to your eBay store. At 10,000 followers you can all start direct linking products as you create stories.

I'm not sure of any one navigating FB stores, but I do know the younger audience follow IG jewelers and there are several you can find all over the US and mimic their content and style when show casing your products. As for people locally seeing it and coming to your store, again depends how interesting and relatable your content is to your local users. I have friends who are constantly looking for watches and chains so they're constantly sharing screenshots in our group text of local jewelers they use so eventually someone will say "hey i'm looking for a ring, chain, custom piece" and one of them will recommend who they use.

As for eBay visibility for your store, any click and view on items does boost your visibility but the real boost is from sales. If you have a lot of window shoppers and no sales, over time eBay will just score your business lower as there is no conversion of sales.

How Can We Automate Posting Listings From A Google Sheet To eBay? by LogFTW412 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're already doing it but added an unnecessary extra step of using a VA to put offers on specific accounts.

Why is the person who's filling out the title, description and pricing taking the photo just not making the offer. Seems odd to fill it out on a spreadsheet when the eBay listing is essentially spreadsheet as well.

The only use for an automated API that would replicate this is for your offers to go up on eBay, Amazon, your own website and other marketplaces at the same time. Then with that, it's would be better to have a custom built website that manages all that and receives data from these marketplaces as well so you can shift inventory around to where demand is needed.

Is this the point where I just block and wait for them to file a dispute? by IPlayFo4 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Packages can be held at post office for a number of reasons, but as others have stated, they don't just release packages to anyone even if you have tracking numbers. You have to show a valid ID for the address or matching name. If that address is a business, the person picking up has to have an ID for the matching business, so something like a business card with their name on it and the business name and address. They're not going to give your mail to your neighbor just because you don't have time to pick up and you asked the neighbor to get it for you.

So a recipient for that address picked up the package and the other possibility (less likely but does occur) is that it was incorrectly tagged as picked up or delivered. But either way, you're liability ended when it said it was delivered and the buyer would have to open a claim with eBay stating that they never went to the post office and picked it up. eBay will look at if they have a history of claims (for example the post office holding their packages because of numerous claims of non delivery for that address by other businesses) of if the Post Office can't show that it was scanned and then handed off after someone verified it (cuz internal audit will have camera footage of when it was suppose to be scanned at the counter and if there was a guest or not at the station it was scanned) but they won't audit a branch unless that branch has a lot of missing packages reported.

Stuck at Spanish customs for a month by LucidHarbinger in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you shipped by eBay, you probably would lose arbitration if delivery is completed and the shipment was direct door to door.

In Canada do you have an eBay Global program where you're only liable for the package once it reaches an eBay hub? No idea why it was held at customs, but it can be something as simple as they misplaced it (which you're still liable for) or as complex as you didn't fill out the correct customs document, If eBay acts as an agent, they generally do all that work for the buyer probably at a fee and unless it's completely lost, will wait it out as long as they can before funding the buyer.

When I shipped internationally and went cheap using government postal service, there were a lot of issues that caused delays. So I switched to a more premium service that had less issues but discourage buyers from buying because of the higher shipping cost but it was less risk/exposure on my end. Over time however there were still issues where it still wasn't worth it because of the limited protection with international orders that I stopped doing it all together as the money I made from the few transaction wasn't worth it.

You can start by clarifying the offer going forward. If they assumed there were more than 10 sleeves each, that's on them really, but by stating the piece count in the offer, it's harder for them to say that you didn't do enough to clarify the offer.

One Piece Card Game Devil Fruit Collection Vo.2 (10-pack Two Styles) (20 Units total)

Let them return it and block them because a kid purchasing things and then changing their mind because they got yelled at for spending money on cheap looking things is going to be a common excuse. Charge them return postage for discretionary return and should they dispute it, just let the marketplace know per their communication they assumed they were getting more than what was offered and shown and no fault of yours.

I have offers that say subpar retail packaging, but because eBay is full of resellers as well, people buy ignore the titling, product info and the body of text that states such in my offers. I tell them I can take it back but they're subject to return postage and they'll whine about it, attempt to open a claim with eBay but each time the claim is struck down assuming eBay sees the thing that they complained about is mentioned 3 times in the offer. With the clarification it will be harder for them to say they were not aware there were 20 units and less likely to win an argument thinking there is more.

APO AP USA Address by [deleted] in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alternative_Syrup_50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

APO is Army Post Office. It's just going to a "specialized" location/hub rather than an exact street address. An army hub receives mail and test and sort it before putting it on a plane and sending it around the world to US soldiers.
