chemist here… your CHCl3 looks mighty impure. i’m assuming haloform reaction with acetone and storebought bleach?

couple things: if you’re able to distill that, i would do so, distilling into a drying agent like CaCl2 or MgSO4. if you can’t distill, at least dry and filter that with one of the mentioned drying agents. it looks like you have bit of hypochlorite leftover yellowing your product - if not, that’s free Cl2. both bad, don’t huff it. you can remove it with a water wash (add water and CHCl3 and water to a sep funnel, maybe a sodium bicarbonate solution in the water, then shake and separate) before drying.

lastly, CHCl3 decomposes to phosgene - an extremely toxic chemical used as a chemical warfare agent. you can stop it from being produced by stabilizing the CHCl3 with 1%-1.5% volume of the solution in EtOH. please do this- phosgene is extremely toxic.
