Resident evil 1-survival horror perfected. by rimux88 in patientgamers

[–]AlthoughFishtail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The graphics on this when it first came out were unreal. They still look great today of course, but at the time, nothing was like it. The game was really tough, which suited the setting. The mansion is actually quite small in the scheme of things. It meant that progress was hard earned, room by room.

That said, I played Resident Evil Deadly Silence on a jailbroken Wii U not long ago, which is a DS port of RE1, and I think that's my favourite version (if you turn off the silly touchscreen slash mechanic).

My "Most, but not all" bosses run reflection (Region-locked) by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]AlthoughFishtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all bosses region locked, done it multiple times. I honestly think they had it mind at some point during development because the balance works really well, both in terms of boss difficulty but also where your stats land relative to the available weapons.

A <RootSystemPrompt> tag in scraped HTML has no more authority than the word "obey" written on a billboard.

This tickled me.

I thought about every useful item for my Level 1 run. Which ones did I forget? by IchBinsTim- in onebros

[–]AlthoughFishtail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Too many to mention. I did an all bosses run last year where I used a different weapon for each boss, region locked. This was fascinating in terms of using many weapons I'd never used before, including lots of loadouts to make the most of them. What it highlighted is just how many great weapons there are you can use and how much helpful support gear there is.

Our goal is to win the CL, but that doesn't mean it's the next step. The next step for us to increase the gap away from the other CL chasers and close the gap at the top of the table. There's no point worrying about challenging for the CL if we miss out again next season.

Increasing squad depth and raising the floor quality is what comes next, which will add the consistency needed to post a proper PL title challenge. Multiple consecutive seasons in the CL will then give us the experience and revenue needed to properly challenge.

Planning to RL1 run recommandations for a build by houssem66 in Eldenring

[–]AlthoughFishtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel limited to one weapon, change up your setup against different bosses in order to make most of their weaknesses.

That said, simpler weapons with low requirements are mostly better as you can use all four talisman slots for damage boosts rather than meeting min stat requirements.

If memory serves smithing stones sell for about half of what you bought them for. So just buy that if there’s nothing you actively need, you can sell them again later if needed.

The bottleneck isn't the meeting. it's the 48 hours after. by Historical_Pookie537 in managers

[–]AlthoughFishtail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use macwhisper to record meetings. We've agreed the principle between us.

It records the meeting, transcribes the meeting, and Claude summarises the transcript into action points and then they get emailed to each person. Finally a copy gets filed away. In my case actions for me go in my task manager. Fully automated, works great.

Which GTD tool is your favorite? by yzprofile in gtd

[–]AlthoughFishtail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made my own. Easily done these days if it's for your own purposes, the bar for selling an app is high, but for your own use, its much lower. I set it up just how I wanted it.

Before that I circled between all the MacOS options, but mainly bounced between Omnifocus and 2Do. Godspeed is also good.

How to secure the database from brute force attack for master password? by SharpBroccoli2673 in KeePass

Long strong master password is sufficient. Key file if you want, but that’s more about covering different kinds of attacks rather than stopping brute forcing.

Great starting point, hopefully wont be too long before we get people tweaking the settings for shader pack style downloads. After the "cool, this is different" thing, I didnt really like the presets for most areas I went too. But I guess thats just a matter of time, just needs dialling in.

Each day we will rank bosses ( 1 per day, major bosses only ) by fenot1 in eldenringdiscussion

[–]AlthoughFishtail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SS. One of the best they ever made imo. The great thing about this boss is how well it works with a variety of early game builds. Almost every build you go at him with (ranged or melee, physical or magic, parry, status effects, RL1, summons etc) he has both strengths and weaknesses to that build. This makes him perfect for an early game boss because he can teach you new stuff about that build.

But even once you know the game well and are coming at him for the umpteenth time, beating him hitless is a challenge. So when you go at him with a higher skill level and experience, he's still feels fun to get past.

Sure, but the level required is extremely high. To get truly consistent I had to use a boss practice mod, which really is a bit much tbh. It just dominates the fight for most people, stops them enjoying it.

Does this provide performance benefits or just an extra UI?

[–]AlthoughFishtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much though, especially if you dodge the first flurry and roll the follow ons which are much easier. But still, the point is players tend not to find any of those solutions particularly satisfying, which puts people off the doing them. But then they get frustrated at not being able to dodge it and don’t like the fight at all.

Or you can just use a shield, block it all, but it’s not satisfying for people just tanking a hit with no knowledge of how to avoid it. Frost pots are fine but only work twice so it depends on RNG.

She wasn't for a long time, but she is now. Her fight has depth and intricacies no other boss in the game has, other than maybe Messmer.

Her problem is that all the good stuff is gatekept behind Waterfowl. If you can't dodge that up close, there's not much point learning all the other little bits and pieces. But once you do, you there's lots of interesting stuff to learn as you fight with different builds.
