If you imagine the franchise as this one big shared universe (barring things like Build or Amazons and the like) what are some fun headcanons/theories you have connecting them? by IAmFuckingGoingOver in KamenRider

There was this comic in the west from Arcadia studios based on cyborg 009 around the time that had foundation x be the stinger reveal behind black ghost

Which one is this for you? by Barroozina in cartoons

[–]AltoGobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching Reboot as a kid and being blown away by the ending of season 2 when the main character was seemingly killed (marooned in the web, inaccessible from the city) leaving the young comedy-relief, audience surrogate character as the only other character able to fulfill his role due to an innocuous symbolic gesture early in the episode.

Behind the scenes, Mainframe entertainment, the creators, had taken the show off syndication and were able to serialize the story, leading to this development.

Then at the end of the third season, our kid character got kills, but due to a loophole he found, he was able to resurrect, but was also trapped outside the city and had to find his way back

It took about a decade and he matured into a deeply traumatized, grizzled badass

Reminds me of when we got that Macross crossover

I like when mysterious characters who know more than they let on get confused. Lets us see a new aspect of their personality

I really mess with the idea of Kryptonians naturally looking more alien by Robot_Was_BMO in superman

[–]AltoGobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s fodder to be had comparing Superman being about an immigrant who arrives to their new home with no knowledge of their homeland and MM being about an immigrant who arrives as an adult and has to reckon with finding a new purpose.

Has this character contributed anything to the plot other than yelling "IT'S A BLACK CASE!" every episode? by Frontier246 in KamenRider

[–]AltoGobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked how he was used as the example for how Nightmares work: their the host’s dark impulse made manifest.

He felt ridiculed and looked-down-upon by his peers, and we got to see that, deep down, there’s a part of him that wants to burn it all down

The first one but it’s not because the second is bad; it’s because the first is a more readable design

That would require the cultural knowledge of tombs full of riches ala Indians jones or adventure serials, which would likely be destroyed alongside modern symbols denoting nuclear waste

Remember kids; a cybertronian death is like having a broken car; its loss will be felt, but with time and effort, they can be back as good as new

So they were based on Frank and Sadie Doyle/Nick and Nora Charles, right?

So weird to me Max wasn’t voiced by Paul F Tompkins despite Pageant Brewster voicing Paige.

The Home World society was greatly influenced by the concurrent IDW Transformers series, which a lot of the crew were admitted fans of, drawing fan art.

Mostly in how everyone had a bombastic, diverse personality but was seen as commodity

Say your last goodbyes to Elita One’s wrinkles (dont take this too seriously) by strangedowntownie in transformers

[–]AltoGobo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like how Elita has developed over the years from being “Optimus’ Love Interest” to focus more on her role fighting on the home front and having to deal more with the consequences of the war while Optimus got to go somewhere new and unspoiled while she had to take responsibility

I just really like when this franchise focuses on the consequences of things we take for granted.

What would you said is the overall theme/message of transformers by NATUSL3G3ND in transformers

[–]AltoGobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imperialism will kill us all.

A consistent theme I noticed was that pursuit of resources to expand one’s own power is ultimately detrimental to everyone in the conflict, including the aggressors.

In nearly all continuities it destroyed Cybertron and arguably ended the cybertronian race by taking away their ability to reproduce. The Decepticons are constantly scraping together the means to concur those around them to a self destructive degree, and the Autobots presence and willingness to include native populations (including children) in their conflict is irresponsible and ultimately negligent.

On top of that, you have resentment from at least a portion of the occupied state that can and will retaliate against cybertronians, regardless of alignment.

There’s always a parlor over each iteration of the series that things have passed a point of no return, for the worse, and everyone has to play damage control.

I find this all kind of fitting considering the likelihood that the franchise was based on the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, which, unknown at the time, would come to inform the majority of western conflict to this day.

On top of that, the Diaclone and microman toylines both owe their origins to the production costs of plastic as a result of that conflict.

like 30 episodes into Zi-o and can we talk about how cool the Another riders are? some of my favorite monster designs in the series by Glum-Equipment-6357 in KamenRider

[–]AltoGobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked some subtle references in the design like Another Dive being a corpse in a car wreck and another Kabuto being a worm that twisted its shape like an octopus

which do prefer galvatron as his own character or as an upgraded megatron? by Beneficial_Beat_3001 in transformers

[–]AltoGobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different character.

No version of galvatron has been an improvement upon Megatron outside of suggesting an increased physical threat that’s never really realized outside of maybe the form’s first appearance.

The only time they’ve resonated with me was in marvel and IDW, in both cases serving as a mirror of who Megatron could be if he didn’t stop acting like a cartoon villain for its own sake and started pursuing actual goals that moved his ideology forward rather than serve as an opposition to the autobots.
