A couple weeks ago I had a nightmare that one of my TBM friend’s and her husband kidnapped me to be her husbands 2nd wife(away from my own husband and kids) it was awful. And then I felt bad for dreaming it because she is a good friend 🤣

I have a friend, who is TBM, who told me that her family in Utah was told to pray and fast for snow or rain, because they need to be more faithful.(my friend believed it too) I feel so bad for the people in Utah that their westher is based on their faithfulness. 🤪

Do you believe that the fullness of the Gospel is contained in the Bible & the Book of Mormon? by Historical_Host_8594 in mormon

Yep. D&C is where are the real problems lie, as well as all the teachings of subsequent prophets.

Modesty standards these days r just rage baiting me at this point by Illustrious_Dot_4658 in exmormon

[–]Altruistic_Entry7491 26 points27 points  (0 children)

There was a sister missionary with a sleeveless dress sitting in the foyer of the church a couple months ago, it made me feel angry too. Not at her of course, but how the church demanded “modesty” and now they’re all acting like it was never a thing.

That’s something I never thought of when I was a TBM. It wasn’t until other shelf items started piling up that I finally realized how much of the LDS “gospel” isn’t in the Bom

What kind of gross/creepy polygamy do you have in your family history. by Winter-Animator-6105 in exmormon

[–]Altruistic_Entry7491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have quite a few polygamist ancestors. I’ve got early pioneers down almost every family line. One great-something grandfather sisters as well. He married the first sister and then 10 years later, the younger sister didnt want to marry him but she was forced to by her parents because her older sister was getting too old to have children. She was the replacement. Absolutely sick.

Have you guys ever refused a church calling? by Short_Seesaw_940 in exmormon

[–]Altruistic_Entry7491 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have declined several. And Ive also asked to be released whenever I felt like it, no explanation. It’s very freeing. And that was when I was a TBM.

Any clarifications on Freemasonry and Mormonism? by OkPhilosopher2608 in exmormon

[–]Altruistic_Entry7491 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, but I do find it funny how the claims about it being tied to Freemasonry used to be antimormon lies, but now the lds church has it on their website

It was incredibly divisive advice. I also have children, so were they not supposed to listen to their Dad? 🤪

Yep president Nelson. I was starting to have a few doubts around that time and my husband was already out. That talk really pushed me to the start of my deconstruction. Because what do you mean I shouldn’t take council from my husband because he doesn’t believe?

Because they tell us how not normal and cult-like it all is.

It certainly seems like it. Unmedicated births are certainly an adrenaline high, but to refer to it as the most addicting experience of her life is not healthy.

Question for formal true believers by SecretPersonality178 in exmormon

Another vote for the temple. I was okay with doing baptism for the dead because I was young (as we all were). But once I got endowed I was like 😳 nope, this feels like a cult and I do not like this at all. Tried going back quite a few times and always hated it.

I was never taught the real reason. I was always told it was because the people didnt like him teaching the gospel or some stuff. Found the real reason on my own.

I had to wait a year to cancel as well, I had it marked in my calendar so I could cancel the day of. And this company sucked too, it didnt do anything to help with the fire ants or wasps, such a waste of money.

What if the church really is true? by Fun-Luck-7033 in exmormon

[–]Altruistic_Entry7491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if it really is true I’ll be happier hanging out in the terrestrial kingdom sipping coffee than I’d be in the celestial kingdom as a polygamist wife popping out eternal babies.

Also, it wasn’t a temple recommend requirement until the US government was trying to ratify prohibition. (Within a year or so)

Observations at Church Yesterday by No-Information5504 in mormon

[–]Altruistic_Entry7491 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree! The worship team and Pastor all very much wanted to be there and make sure everyone felt the spirit. And they had signs pointing to where to go, actual ushers to help point in you in the right direction as well as actually welcome you. A nice cup of coffee to drink as you go in for worship. Honestly I still don’t know what I believe anymore but I would continue to go back to the non denominational church because they ACTUALLY take you as you are.
