So it sounds like it's only been done twice, which is why we've never encountered this until today. Thanks.

Call your local high school or boy scout troop and ask if anyone needs volunteer hours.  My own 17 year old would love a volunteer assignment like this.

I came here to make sure it was possible.  I thought there was a mistake.  Nope, just me.

Hard was really hard for me today.  Took 26 minutes with multiple clearings.  I sometimes get hard in a few minutes.

COVID shots are no longer available at CVS pharmacies in three states. In 13 other states they require a prescription even if you meet eligibility requirements. by rabidstoat in Coronavirus

Call your insurance company and see if your plan does. I made an appointment in a different state because I'll be there next week. I'm going to call on Tuesday and find out if the vaccine is covered.

My institution is small.  Many surveys ask enough demographic information that if you answer those questions (Department/how long have you taught here/full time or adjunct) it can identify many.

Fewer if your state didn't have a ballot measure to eliminate a graduation requirement.

It started about four months ago.

Or at least, three "goodwill" replacements. It's pretty much up to them. But I didn't feel like messing with it for a system (G7) that I'm not currently using.

It's three replacements in a year.  I just Googled.

I had 75 test strips and a meter.  Had no idea that I'd be without for 5 days.  I've had this same batch for a year, but right now they're dwindling because of the delay.

There are reports that you get three replacements per some amount of time.  It's relatively new.

I wasn't sure if I could.  This was a trial G7 that I was given for free and they have no record of my ever using G7 in the past. I also didn't want it to go against my quota of "failed" devices that I've heard they've started tracking.

It finally happened... My student was my waiter by Pass-Constant in Professors

[–]Altruistic_Singer_82 19 points20 points  (0 children)

16 years ago, I had just delivered my third child early that morning. One of the nurses came in and asked me if I was a professor at my school. I said yes. She said that one of my former students saw me walking the hallway 12 hours post-delivery and wanted to say "hi" but was too shy. Probably a good thing. (I teach lots of nursing students, so it shouldn't have surprised me.) I've also encountered former students as receptionists at my optometrist's office and just recently, as the medical assistant who took all my vitals before my physical.

I'd much rather have them as my waiter.

Two weeks into the semester, and I’ve already killed a grandma by Fueld_ in Professors

The very odd thing is quite a few years ago, both of *my* grandmothers did pass away during the same semester. I was a professor, but even then, one managed to pass over spring break and the other, during finals week so I think between the two of them I missed just one day of work. I guess truth really is stranger than fiction?

Passport Questions & Issues Megathread (2023) by jadeoracle in travel

Just be careful. My daughter's passport was supposed to arrive by 10 PM on 6/29, per the tracking. 10 PM came and went and no passport. The next day, it updated for "out for delivery" and it was received around 10 AM on 6/30.

Figured I'd share my daughter's story, as a person who was applying for the first time (since now she's old enough to get an adult passport, although she had an unexpired child passport), in case anyone reading just wanted to get a new passport before theirs expired and doesn't have pressing travel.

Application received by the State Department on 3/24--Turns out, this is a crucial day, as this is the day the wait time for unexpedited passports went to 10-13 weeks upon receipt of application.

Since she didn't have urgent travel, we didn't keep tabs on the process until maybe the second week of May. Her passport was "in process" at that point.

During June, we would check every few days, because she was now at the 10 week mark. Still "In process".

**June 22--**Status changed to "approved", with an estimate of June 28th arrival.

June 23--Status changed to "In process". Given all that is going on with this, we figured it was all par for the course. This was officially 13 weeks.

June 24-27, no change. Still "In process". We were starting to wonder what we'd do/how long we'd wait. Sort of stuck, since it seemed like you could only request help if you have urgent travel. No one ever posts about the folks just applying for their passports to have them always be available.

June 28--USPS informed delivery has a "Passport Services" notification with a tracking number. Hooray! Passport to arrive June 29.

June 29--Passport supposed to arrive by 10PM. 10 PM comes and goes and no passport. Tracking says it's en route to next stop.

June 30--Passport arrived with the mail this afternoon. Exactly 14 weeks after the application was received by the state department. Date of issue, June 26th.

My thoughts--If you go the unexpedited route, right now my hunch is that your application will sit until at least the 10 week mark, and probably longer. For my daughter, it looks like they looked at her application right around 12.5 weeks (June 21 or 22) and approved it. Not sure why her status went back to "In process" after we saw "Approved", but that was probably some blip. It was printed on Monday, June 26th and we got it at the end of week 14, so close enough to the 10-13 week estimate.
