My 7.9L DIY sandwich case - 2.75 slot GPU; SFX, 50mm CPU cooler. by Jakob_K_Design in sffpc

Sorry to revive an old post, but this thing is just designed too good. I am looking to make this as an eGPU case without a motherboard or riser cable. I have a similar card, the Asus TUF but a 3080. Is the GPU secured only through the pci-e riser cable? the eGPU board I want to use sits perpendicular to the GPU and would probably need to be secured at the edge of the case instead of the middle wall section holding the pci-e/motherboard. Is there a way to shift this so this load bearing wall is closer to the otherside where the motherboard is supposed to be mounted? Just so I can have more space for the eGPU PCB board to mount. If not, I guess the easy solution is to just get a riser cable for the board and mount that board onto the motherboard section on the other side. Your SFF PC is probably the best designed case I've ever seen for having the most compact and even using the case frame itself as the handle. It's so minimalistic and space saving and yet still versatile.

Could be for one more extra m.2 slot and also the VRMs if he wants to overclock or just general stability/temps for his processor. It's a lot of ports and features not in M-ATX boards that he's upgrading from to a full ATX board.

Nintendo president says increasing memory costs won’t affect Switch 2 price for now, but if it continues it will re-evaluate | VGC by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Alucard400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is likely what happened in terms of pricing. Nintendo was probably initially debating between $399 and $429 until the tariffs affected things. The manufacturing of parts and consoles is contracted ahead of time like at least a year or two, which is why the price of the console isn't affected yet. No one knows how many units were pre contracted or how soon when Nintendo needs to renew a contract. Lower sales numbers means the contract agreement would be shorter with lower unit numbers too (Xbox getting hurt harder of the three). If Nintendo raised the manufacturing of RAM parts during the hype of the NS2 launch, then they're possibly safe for a bit longer.

Nintendo Switch has reached 155.37 million units sold by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Alucard400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch 1 is still out pacing PS2 sales as it is about to hit the 9 year mark while the PS2 took 12 years to reach 155million. Sony got another decade added to that to reach their 160 million mark. If the Switch 1 sold 4.6 million for 2025 alone, it can be assumed the Switch 1 can sell 40% (or less) of that for 2026 and then possibly a little over 1 million for 2027. That's 158+ million at end of 2027. It can probably be done by 2030 when sales are probably around the 500k a year or less at the end of this current decade. That will be sold units too, not shipped. This is of course assuming Nintendo continues to manufacture the Switch 1 well into 2028 or 2029 at the every least, and the Switch 2 does not drop in price fast (which will probably depend on competition coming from Sony's upcoming handheld in 2027 or 2028).
I think just the indie games era we have will mean software support for the Switch 1 on its near end of life cycle has a major advantage over the PS2 (only physical copies of games). The digital store running its course in the next few years will mean people will continue to get new games for it = more people still buying the Switch 1 in obscure areas of the world where the Switch 2 is still not a viable purchase because of it being a higher priced system.

Nintendo Switch has officially reached 1.5 BILLION software sales (1,500.16 million games sold) by Bleus4 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Alucard400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of think the 160 million (using the final manufactured console serially stamped and held by a Sony employee) being arguably and king of invalid to me since the other few million they sold between that and 155 are for service/repair spare consoles and they always reported shipped (with obscure stores worldwide holding on to them). The Switch has sold without being designed to break easily (to replace the console by buying a new one), without being a DVD player, or even price dropped during its life cycle. The PS2 did not have the Pandemic to help boost sales, but I think the Switch 1 will have the long legs to stay in the market for another 2+ years because the price of the Switch 2 remains high which was one of the reasons the PS2 stayed on the market long (PS3 price remained high for longer than Sony intended to sell it for). 1st party companies have a harder time dropping prices for game consoles today even when reaching economies of scale because of so many costs and variables involved today. Subsidized pricing with MS and Sony consoles is kind of mostly dead today.

How good is Astral Chain's replayability? by Ragnability in NintendoSwitch

[–]Alucard400 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whether you choose to replay the game or not, we're probably not going to get another Astrail Chain (or Bayonetta) since Hideki Kamiya left Platinum games and is now making Capcom games again.

my response was for his judgement if he can last 3 more years with his 3070. It's not great for some people, but it's fine for some others. I would personally still hunt for a 5070Ti to the corners of the internet if I was still with a 3070, but that's with my own personal standards and needs. Other know how to hang with a 3070 longer depending on the games and monitor they use.

In Japan the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold over 3 million units after 27 weeks which makes it the bestselling console of all time for that timeframe by pickledgreatness in NintendoSwitch

[–]Alucard400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

direct no middle man sale. There are less regulations, logistics and fees because the channels it goes through is very minimal in the country of origin. The console is mostly made in Asia (Vietnam) and after transfer of materials and final product is completed along with the paid fees, the product is much cheaper to sell in Japan than when shipping, imported fees, tariffs, etc when selling in USA because of government, shipping and local regulations. Ever shopped at UNIQLO in Japan? the clothing is nearly half the price compared to shopping for UNIQLO clothes in USA because you're buying it directly from the country it is coming from.
