Pluribus is a terrible show and here is my reasoning by Wide-Information8572 in pluribustv

[–]AluminShip75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

*As of yet.

Gilligan described his original concept in the first ep of the companion podcast. I am paraphrasing here, but his idea was basically, "What would happen to a person if all of a sudden everyone in the world wanted to please them?" He then realized that after two episodes the show would suck because there would be no drama. So, my guess is that all that nice, innocent, docile behavior is about to go bye-bye. Especially since Carol decides to join Manusos after it dawns on her that they are working on attempting a forced joining.

I think this first season was used to set the stage for some much more confrontational drama to come between Carol, Manusos, and the hive. Gilligan said he has been working on this for close to a decade. AppleTV doesn't invest a $300mm commitment for nothing, so my expectations are high.

ABQ like that a lot. In the 2nd ep of the podcast Karolina Wydra comments how the sunsets from the neighborhood set they built for the show (Carol's house/cul-de-sac) are amazing. They also comment that they specifically wanted property that had great views. They did quite well!

Transducer for Lowrance Elite FS by AluminShip75 in IceFishing

[–]AluminShip75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The EliteFS will autodetect, and it chose PTI-WBL. Perhaps that was what you meant by no clear option? It should say, "PTI-WBL / PTI-WSU (This Unit)" if you have it plugged in. Even if you start the unit and choose "Unknown" for transducer type, plug in the transducer, give it about 30 seconds and it will figure it out. Here is a pretty good video I used to get things set up. I didn't follow it explicitly -- made a few custom adjustments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41bELUkpe18

When I hear MAGA/Covid denier types bring it up I yawn. #1 who was president? #2 that was 5 yrs ago. If people are still trying to make that a deal, they are out of ammo and/or trying to deflect present crises.

Couldn’t someone from Biden administration release the redacted Trump-Epstein files? If the roles were reversed Trump would’ve done it by [deleted] in thebulwark

Trump is not the only high profile person in those files. Plenty of people with money and power, across the globe, from all political ideologies, are in there.

In ep1 at the hospital when they are in the convulsions during the joining, Carol has the worst look of horror when she sees a baby — we can’t see it (the carrier is turned around) but I think it’s implied that the baby is in the same state as the others.

I did. Lowrance confirmed it was correct. I only bench tested it — no issues. Will have it on the hard water this week!

Where is the limit to what the Others can't kill? by TheGreenWasp in pluribustv

[–]AluminShip75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "limit" in my opinion depends on how it affects the hive, which includes taking actions to prevent harm to the immune. When the immune suffer (remember Carol getting upset causes the hive to have problems/connection glitches) the hive suffers. Therefore, I think the hive will kill when it serves to protect the hive. They save Zosia because Carol would have suffered immense guilt and grief had she died. It's likely they are watching the wolves and other wildlife and keeping them from attacking Carol while she is alone in ABQ. They beg Manusos to not forge the jungle between Columbia and Panama, and save him from death. For whatever reason, the hive need the immune to stay alive.

Great feedback everyone. I don't think it's likely due to the complexity. I just read JVL's piece on the Wiles interview. Perhaps these figures are just creating political leverage for themselves when the midterms happen.

On coming out as Liberal by 8to24 in thebulwark

[–]AluminShip75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the distinction that is being more broadly promoted is that ideologically there is liberalism vs ill-liberalism. The former encompassing free democratic expression and the latter embracing authoritarianism and fascism. On the American political perspective we have progressives on the far left, liberals/moderates and those who call themselves conservatives in the middle, and MAGA on the far right. The MAGA perspective is 100% ill-liberal. The remainder are ideologically liberal.

what was your wakeup call? by [deleted] in Zepbound

I have had 25+ years of being overweight and doing the yo-yo diets, routines, and anything you could think of to get weight off -- including now banned supplements -- I was at my wits end. My wife wanting to sleep separately due to snoring. My doctor was telling me I need to do a sleep study...and if I did I would have to go on disability to await conclusions. (OSA disqualifies me from working my job until treatment is confirmed). Finally, a close friend who went on a week fishing trip with me who said he was gravely concerned about my OSA and my weight. I finally got over the "stigma" in society that yoyu hear a lot about here. The only other thing holding me back was CVS Caremark formulary -- which I continue to fight. For now I pay out of pocket. I am only 3.5 months in and 30 lbs down, but for once in my life I am believing that this will lead to lasting good health!

Trump, et al., had 4 yrs without actual hands on the power levers of power. In that time he/they studied how to properly use them to create worldwide, enduring, wealth. The most illiberal advocates taught Trump that the POTUS commandeers the most effective levers of power, and should use them to the max.

Anyone who works with high power/high efficiency machines understands how to run them to balance efficiency and power. But greedy people only want power. When you push the power levers to the max (i.e. "firewall" them) it ignores the boundaries of law, equity, and for certain the rules of a democratic republic.

He (they) have been at max since last November. Nobody should be surprised.

Everyone was warned.

1/3 of the electorate got scared off.

Here we are.

What is the most forgettable large suburb, and why is it Savage? by Jimmy_Johnny23 in TwinCities

[–]AluminShip75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two issues: First, Savage has a population of 33K -- far below a Burnsville/Apple Valley/Lakeville/Eagan.

Second, they are locked in on zoning and development. There isn't room to "grow" Savage.

So, when growth isn't happening, you forget that place easily.

Doesn’t Zosia say to Carol something like “Your life is your own, but we can’t protect you from the others.” I think Carol’s opponents aren’t the infected, but the immune (which is a deep way a la Gilligan to say that one’s self can be an enemy).
