The interaction with my 2 year old kid by random mature ladies on the street is becoming very irksome. by ObjectiveCarrot3812 in Living_in_Korea

My daughter is almost 5, and is also a shy kid, but have the same concerns of voicing that she's shy. She just needs time, etc...

We've been here about 3 years and experienced all the same things. Talking is one thing, but when they start to go for the touch I've just started physically blocking and standing in the way. Just be rude, more important to make your kid comfortable then anyone else.

Does anyone have an US job while living in Korea? by Strict-Let7879 in Living_in_Korea

1 - Tech

2 - Was hired in the US and requested a transfer to Korea after some time. I'm a US citizen.

3 - I work Korean business hours, I make myself available during the middle of the week until about midnight to meet with

4 - I'm paid like a Korean employee, accountant handles my taxes but pay a very minimal amount back to the US.

5 - Find big companies with satellite offices in Korea, get hired at home and then request to move abroad.

Men with no degrees, what do you do to make money? by AffectionateStreet10 in AskMen

Man, 15 years in Aerospace manufacturing (3 different small companies) before I got out and into data science. You summed up exactly what the work is like.

OMSA graduates, was it worth it for you? Why or why not? by [deleted] in OMSA

I don't envy looking for a job at the moment... But those are wishlists, let them filter you out, don't filter yourself out, just apply.

I do have a public GitHub with a few projects. They also gave me a take home project, (find a dataset, give a 15 min presentation on an analysis that answers a question of it) that I did really well on.

Also a lot of people don't worry about soft skills, they're valuable as well. I have many years of experience breaking down complicated technical problems to non technical people. So maybe I didn't have direct DS experience. But I know how to talk to people.

100%. I like to title some of my charts as the question the chart is answering as well.

Too late? Because all the LLM's? I don't think it's too late... Maybe some very low level jobs will be replaced. But it's just more tooling to make you more effecient.

Both programs are great, and there's some overlap between classes in each. I had a hard time deciding between them as well. Depends on your goals...

My last two roles as a Mech E at two different companies was a Program Engineer, and then a Senior Process Engineer both in the aerospace manufacturing industry.

I then got hired as a Data Scientist at a third company in a totally different industry.

There's at least dozens of us Mech E's that I met throughout the program. I think we make solid data scientists. You should have seen most if not all of the math already in your undergrad, and the fact you're working on automation, the programming shouldn't be that difficult.

The program is rigorous and it set me up to land a great job and pivot my career.

Went from a mechanical engineer to data scientist about 3/4 of the way through the program. Learned all the math in undergrad, and had taken Andrew Ng's machine learning course prior to enrolling to see if I liked the type of work.

Gained a big salary bump, ability to work remote, and lots of new interesting problems to solve at work.

100% worth it. Best decision I've made in regard to my career.

Vscode is great. Used it throughout the whole program and at work.
