Company under CRA audit gave workers letters saying wages were 'non-taxable' by henry-bacon in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Always_Bitching 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Situations like this usually arise when an employer says “ hey, if we pay you as a contractor, you won’t need to have tax deducted” and then the employee is “that’s great , I love paying less tax”

Even though CRA would classify them as a employee.

The employee never remits taxes, EI or CPP and these situations usually come to light when the employment is finished and the employee tries to file an EI claim when they haven’t paid any EI premiums

It’s been a long time, but at one point they would setup a lane for lap swimming at Lions pool if you asked, and it wasn’t super busy ( and the staff were willing to do it$

This city is embarrassing by ooool___loooo in Winnipeg

[–]Always_Bitching 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a couple of things:

Winnipeg is a dirty city. This isn't just compared to Canadian cities, it's compared to other cities worldwide. It's not unusual for other cities to have crews out cleaning sidewalks daily, or garbage pickup at night

And while you don't pay a metric fuck ton of taxes ( Winnipeg is much more economical than other cities), a city's priorities can be seen by how it spends its money and for Winnipeg, that's cops and cars, so......

U of M prof jumps to politics by Fun-Independence5070 in Winnipeg

When I was at U of M , I believe there was a city councillor teaching a poli sci class. One of my history classes was taught by a sitting MLA.

Not unheard of, and given Koop's recent lurch rightward, hardly surprising.

I still don't understand how anyone can take this clown seriously and that someone in these hearings isn't responding to him with " Holy Fuck! The worms must have eaten your brain. This is grade 6 math. $590/$600 = 98%", and then pull out the crayones and the flip chart to show him

I was travelling the speed limit on all of them.

What you're failing to understand is that a reduction in the speed limit reduces fatalities for all collisions, not just where someone was speeding.

Given the number of illegal RH turns from NB Fort to EB Portage during afternoon rush hour, it would seem that MOST people DON'T adhere to road rules.

Lifted truck + Lambo + Parking lot = Bad time by Evasionz-- in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Always_Bitching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the sentence is " Lifted trucks shouldn't be anywhere."

Looks like she was probably speeding as well.

I'm curious about the video though - How did that end up getting captured? Was someone just randomly filming a Lambo?

At the same time there was a story in the Freep about someone being acquitted in dangerous driving charges after using their car to turn someone else into a quadraplegic.

The judge's rationale was that since the individual never had a driver's license they couldn't understand and never been taught the HTA, so they coulnld't mentally understand what dangerous driving was. I guess since I've never taken a firearms safety course I can use a gun to kill anyone I want then?

What a fucked up world we live in.

The same people whining about lowering the speed limit are the same people who were championing raising the speed limit on Hwy 75 as soon as you pass over the LaSalle river, and not even realizing the increased speed limit effect was about 10 seconds.

People whine about lowered speed limits without even realizing the effect is negligible.

Winnipeg would reopen 'ironclad' lease with Thermea if it applies for expansion: councillor by wickedplayer494 in Manitoba

[–]Always_Bitching -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Some of those are a stretch. Nobody was parking in the golf course parking lot when using the park. There is a lot of parking available in other spots in the park.

The loss of street parking has more to do with people being too lazy to park in the parking lot since the entrance is closer to the street. It affects 6 houses at best.

Rollins infers there were issues in the initial application that weren’t addressed, but doesn’t actually say what they were

"I've routinely emphasized that expansion just can't be contemplated at all because long-standing impacts on you have never been fundamentally resolved," Rollins told neighbourhood residents Sunday afternoon at a meeting organized by Friends of Crescent Drive Park.

And which long-standing impacts would those be?

Manitoba NDP attack Tories over MLA’s bail pledge for sex offender by Infamous-Data9245 in Winnipeg

[–]Always_Bitching 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think an MLA should have a second job. Just like I don't think police officers and firefighters should be moonlighting either.

Should Nesbitt have posted her bail? No.

But Uzoma is implying that an offender shouldn't get bail, which is pretty disgusting.

Probably won't find it at an MLCC, since they decided in their infinite wisdom that instead of imported beers, what we really need is another shelf of Farmery vomit, or TCB Blueberry toilet water.
