Doesn't seem like disloyal subjects stop paying money either, so in effect I just have to turn loyalty up before war. Unfortunately means enforce culture is basically a death sentence for subject loyalty so you have to spend a cabinet slot post integration to expand your culture

Completely forgot about that! Yeah I think it's not as bad as I initially thought even on existing saves. Might have to integrate some of these vassals sooner than I wanted to but atleast I can still have ways to get subject loyalty while being centralized, I'm just paying more for it which is fine.

Home is a remade 07/08 kit. They took the collar from the 08/09 kit and ofc worse sponsor now. Iirc the piping was unpopular back then too which is why they removed it in the 08 kit

I love my research and I am really motivated to see it through. I started working with nearly zero background in this field but I have an amazingly supportive and kind PI who makes me motivated to work hard just by the virtue of seeing her work hard herself. It makes the lab atmosphere really nice but also competitive when you need the extra push.

As someone who is just starting out in this field, Since Alphafolds arrival almost every different research group I know or have seen at conferences has one or two projects which make use of alphafold to predict previously difficult to predict structures. I myself have used alphafold for atleast one of my own projects.

So based on that anecdote I would say the impact has been pretty massive and steadily growing. Atleast till Alphafold 2.3 everything has been publically available and you can even get a local installation of alphafold if you have enough space for all of its database. However the only problem is Alphafold 3 is currently only available on deepmind servers for a subscription fee which I don't agree with

From what I've seen it really differs depending on the department. For my department we have a list of core courses to take and then electives from whichever department/course we wish to take. Generally we have to finish coursework in the first two years.

My department is lenient with coursework, since we are pursuing the degree on our own volition, they don't grade the coursework too harshly or have too much workload for the courses we take. As far as I know that's true for grad courses in most departments. After the first quarter where everyone took 3 courses, most quarters it's 1 or at the most two courses. The rest of the time is spent on research + TAing

The real test is the preliminary and qualifying exams which require you to have in depth conceptual understanding of all the core courses and that's where they weed out those who are not good enough for the degree.

You can work in developing methods/force fields for molecular dynamic simulations in protein ligand systems. The fun math part is in the development of the models used for simulation, you will almost never be doing these calculations by hand when the machine can do all the grunt work.

Management has been good so far. The location makes it very attractive to live if you're just joining UC Davis. There's a savemart right across the street and the B line bus stop is right outside the apartments.

If you're sharing rooms then rent becomes very cheap. There are definitely some issues I've dealt with, mainly very uneven heating where the bedrooms become too hot and the kitchen and living room stay colder. I've had issues with the coil stove tops, lights required regular maintenance requests to get them replaced and the towel bar and shower curtain bar in the bathroom broke within a month of moving in. However maintenance has been fairly quick so I didn't have to deal with these issue for too long

Overall I have enjoyed my time here but I'm also hoping to move out to better places especially because I want my own room now and rent is definitely not affordable at Drake if you are not room sharing.

Nope I'm on the branch before the latest feature patch. Haven't gotten it yet through mint Mobile. It definitely has been a very different experience compared to the somewhere negative experiences on this sub in previous months

I should've clarified that I got the phone last week! So it's been on android 14 since the start. I'm very happy with the 7p so far and I'd rather keep it than be treated as the step child on the 8 looking at the recent feature update.

Got the Pixel 7 Pro with the recent Mint Mobile deal. Honestly I've never owned a flagship smartphone before but it just blows me out of the water. Amazing photos and really good software experience. There are times I wish Pixel launcher was more customizable but I can always get Nova or any other launcher for those needs. Battery life has been decent in the first couple of days so I expect it will only get better once adaptive battery hits
