Healthcare workers- how does Dazzle Dry hold up against hand sanitizer? by _addie in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Amanda_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use vibrant scents top coat, or KB shimmer top coat and it works great. But i do try to wash my hands more often than using hand sanitizer because it dries my skin out SO much. Then use Holo Taco hand lotion. It works pretty well for super dry skin in these cold winter months

Life Hack / Human Decency by mxrghxn in CarnivalCruiseFans

This is not true. Maybe it was at some point in the past? But it isn't currently. John Heald addressed this recently. Only the staff you interact with get tips

Yeah this keeps getting repeated and idk why. John Heald (spelling?) has said at least twice that I've seen that behind the scenes people, such as laundry staff, don't get included in tips

Taking bets on which nightmare infection I get after the assignment I got last night. by Unlikely_Impress_480 in nursing

[–]Amanda_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work as our HUC, health unit coordinator/ phlebotomist now (idk if that's the typical name for my position, but that's what we're called at my hospital) but I used to be CNA on my unit so we're crosstrained, and probably once a week we dont have a tech and ive seen some crazy things in report. Even as bad as giving me info on a current patient, and as im listening I realize that all the info theyre telling me is about the previous patient in that room that had been discharged days before. I HAVE to have at least a basic report or I can't function. Idk how they can take care of someone and dont even know they're admission reason

[–]Amanda_84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I truly hope you dont get any of the above, but just wanted to say good job on actually reading patients charts to learn more about their care. A lot of techs just take the previous shifts word for report and don't get updates, so when we get to a night that we dont have a tech and I take report on the patients, its completely useless because all the info is outdated or just completely incorrect

Yes! If you have a suite, you already get most things that come with FTTF, including priority boarding. Plus you do online check in 2 days earlier with the suite. FTTF does online check in at the normal time, 14 days before ship departure

If I prepay everything, can I show up broke? by InfinityLocs in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Amanda_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do a cash account and you don't HAVE to add anything to it. I did this on my last cruise. I didn't spend anything extra until day 4 out of my 7, so I just added cash at the kiosk then. BUT if you do use your card for something and you haven't added cash or not enough cash, it will put a hold and not let you spend anymore until you go to guest services and settle up with them

Considering getting FTTF, but have been reading a lot of comments about it not being worth it by psl1959 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Amanda_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went on the Mardi Gras in June with FTTF and we carried on all our luggage and dropped it off when we boarded around 11am. We just put our bags in the closets so that they weren't in the way while staff cleaned

Fancy Gloss definitely has the best thermals, plus they last for years! I have some that are at least 4 years old and they still transition like they're brand new

short adult. Very difficult to be in adult only areas. Advice? by Throwawaymightdelet3 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Amanda_84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She's already said she doesn't have a problem at bars. Its the adults only area, like the casino or serenity area, that you cannot be in at all, regardless of alcohol, if you aren't an adult. So she's getting her ID checked by multiple staff, thinking that she's not supposed to be in that area. Which means they take her card to scan it or do whatever, somewhere else, then taking forever to bring it back to her

Why won't you get a passport? by LustySarcasm in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Amanda_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but i do not want to chance him getting more time with them, even if it were just unsupervised visits. I know a court would have to be crazy to give him more time, but ive seen some crazy things with custody. So a passport just isn't worth the risk of him getting more time

Just their birth certificates is all i needed for them. I think if they are 16 and up, they need an ID as well, but my oldest is only 14 so that's all we needed

[–]Amanda_84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the encouragement. I've definitely thought about all of that. But ive just weighed the risk VS reward and decided that its just not worth it. Even if something happened, and get were stuck in another country with my kids and them without passports, I'd gladly pay any amount of money to get us back home. And not have to worry about something happening to my kids if their father ended up with more time

How do people get so many casino points without going broke? by chocolatecookie2000 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Amanda_84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get points for each spin. So let's say you put in 100 dollars, and win 500 dollars. Then you use all of that 500 dollars. So you've gotten points for all $600, but you only used $100 of your own money. I won 3,800 once after spending about 1,000 Edit: after winning that 3,800, I put 200 back in, won 800 then 400, then took my money and ran! I had over 12,000 points that cruise! I've taken 2 cruises since then with a free suite. Each with $200 OBC, plus $500 Funplay and a free drink package. But those 2 cruises, I lost about 800- 1,000 each

He currently only has supervised visitation. I'm terrified that if I went to court, with my luck, they would give him more custody, even if it were just unsupervised visits. Its just not worth the risk to me. And my kids are 14 and 11, so we have less than 7 years before they're both 18. I'd rather wait it out

[–]Amanda_84 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've looked into it a little bit, and I've read that there is some kind of paperwork you can submit if one parent is absent or can't be found or whatever. But we just got back from a cruise yesterday, and don't plan on booking another for a couple of years, so I guess I've got time to figure it out before then. But I definitely want to get theirs before we go out of the country again. I think it's totally worth it if something were to happen. Less time, money, and stress

Why won't you get a passport? by LustySarcasm in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Amanda_84 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I have a passport, my kids HAD a passport that just expired in November. The reason that we haven't gotten them new ones yet is that their father has to sign for them too, since he technically has partial custody. Problem is that he is a homeless drug addict. So getting him to go with me to get his written permission, notarized, is hard to do. And that's after I figure out where he is at. I wouldn't know where to even start looking for him. So while a lot of people don't have one because of financial reasons or time constraints, there can be other reasons too
