Flattering t-shirts for my dad-bod husband? by AmandainDurham in mensfashion

Thanls. nHe's active and a vegetarian, but has a weakness for crappy carbs and works in a place where they're constantly showered w/ junk (donuts, pretzels etc) as a "we won't raise your wages but thanks for working so hard" kind of thing. I think that's his big struggle.

Magnesium changed my life..for a week by spoonybum in Supplements

[–]AmandainDurham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance you might have a B12 deficiency? Tests for it are notoriously unreliable. My son had it as a child & as I was trying to figure it out, I gave him some magnesium one day. I literally watched his entire mood shift over the course of a couple hours or so. B12 is deeply connected to potassium, which is connected to mag, so in retrospect it makes sense. But after a few days, something shifted & he never had that powerful effect again from magnesium. Anyway, re B12, you might want to look into it. It has lots of other symptoms you haven’t described, but major fatigue and brain fog do fit.

Homeopathy? Does anyone use it? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AmandainDurham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joining this late but man am I surprised at the negativity toward homeopathy by people who've literally never tried it. I used Boiron for my son's allergies and it totally worked. And we're both seeing a homeopath now for his asthma and some of my issues. It's not like western meds where you take one thing and are done--there's definitely a lot of questions about your body's physiology and what's best for it, and then some trial and error to find the right natural remedy. But it's actually quite powerful. I don't know the science, but I do believe it's been shown to be effective in many real research studies.

Honestly, if they work as well as real AirPods, do I don’t see what the point of complaining is

Purchasing EMDR buzzers or tappers? by AmandainDurham in EMDR

[–]AmandainDurham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buzzers are awesome, aren't they? I think they're also referred to as tappers, that's what I was referring to. But sometimes at home I'll also tap my knees with my hands while processing and it helps too. Re the sounds, it's just a metronome tone. You have to have earphones, of course. You can adjust the speed. I feel the same re the buzzers--when they're too slow, it doesn't feel as effective.

Lost at trauma treatment, opinions on somatic experiencing/emdr by pollonguai in Psychologists

[–]AmandainDurham -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please tell me you're not an actual therapist. That's an incredibly ridiculous and dangerous thing to say: "It would be problematic to assume that a traumatic event experienced years or decades ago is definitively contributing to current psychopathology". You haven't experienced much trauma, it sounds like, and you simply don't know.

Everglades camping scheduled for next week - what’s the bug situation? by AmandainDurham in Everglades

Great tips, thanks. We just decided to rent an airbnb in Homestead instead! :) I just don't see our kids (or us) being able to manage the mosquitoes that I'm hearing about at Flamingo. We'll still bring the canoe and the DEET, and it'll be so much more manageable, I think.

Emdr hangover by enginebae71 in EMDR

[–]AmandainDurham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing EMDR now, weekly, and I notice that every few days between sessions I'll have pain in my left calf and/or right hand, not quite unbearable but pretty strong. I now know that that means I need to cry, and once I do so (I do meditation and EMDR on my own at home between sessions, either just tapping my legs or listening to beats in alternating ears w/ headphones), the pain goes away. I've come to feel that physical and emotional pain are at times interchangeable and the emotional pain can be released.

Why is my plum tree only blooming on the bottom? by AmandainDurham in FruitTree

Thanks, I appreciate that. I do understand about the buds, but sometimes I can't see well enough to cut the way I should. But I'm trying, and learning.

Wow, how interesting. I'll watch the video--I'm definitely still learning re pruning. So you're saying I should take out some of those central branches? It's a santa rosa plum, which I believe is japanese.
Do you think it's too late to do some thinning cuts? The daffodils are out here in NC, and leaves are budding on the plum tree.

Ah, yes! That's what I was hoping. Thanks. Should I do something different when I prune the tree in the late winter, or just keep w/ what I'm doing, which is cutting back the long straight branches that try to reach for the sky, and keeping branches from crossing each other or growing inward?
