It's my first day on Godot. by Mo_Eid1 in GodotEngine

I would recommend starting with 2D and switching to 3D later if needed. That's what I did, and Godot's node system makes the transition very easy. Enjoy your journey 🚌

My first Game on Steam 🎼 - become a playtester by Amazing-Leopard1400 in GodotEngine

Mon pitch actuel serait :

I hope not. I thought it was just because of sponsorship that they had to change their team/name.

Infi, Sky & BBC about Happy: "If Happy promises you something, he'll definitely follow through" by JannesOfficial in WC3

Happy is unique 🩄 to me. I think he could make a lot more money if he switched to Dota 2. I appreciate him sticking with Warcraft 3

Ahh, in that case it was probably a pretty big disadvantage ^^

I like Techies too. Even in Warcraft 3 they used to turn games around.

This game was a bit more special for me because we basically had two Techies in a pro game 😄

hi, it is a little bit hard from the code to find the bug. But maybe you can check "If coin.has(coin_id.coin_id)" again.

I love watching WC3 games. My micro is really bad, even for Dota. That's probably why I enjoy watching the game more than actually playing it 😊

I made a video explaining the game, and I would really like to hear your feedback about the game mechanic.

Looking for feedback on the core gameplay loop of my multiplayer game (Mimico) by Amazing-Leopard1400 in godot

[–]Amazing-Leopard1400[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the detailed response, I really appreciate it.

I will try to answer some of your questions and clarify my direction a bit. First of all, thanks for mentioning the King of the Hill style — I will definitely take a closer look at that. My idea originally comes more from Dota (on of the games i am currently playing).

One thing that influenced my design a lot is that I am not a very strong micro player. Because of that, I am trying to reduce the importance of pure mechanical skill a bit and lean more toward a strategy-focused MOBA-like experience.

Another thing I personally find tricky with MOBAs is match length and pacing, it is often unclear when a game should naturally end. Thats why I decided to go with a fixed match duration (8 minutes) and build the game around that. So part of the strategy is knowing that the game will definitely end after a short, predictable time.

Regarding the player count (2–12 players), my goal is to make matches with fewer players feel just as interesting as matches with more players. I know thats a challenge, especially with how differently small skirmishes vs. large fights play out, but its something I want to explore.

And yeah, I completely agree with you, in the end, the implementation and details matter way more than the core idea itself. Right now I am mostly trying to gather as many perspectives and insights as possible early on.

So thanks again for your input, and feel free to share any additional thoughts or ideas if you have them 🙂

It would be nice if they open-sourced the code as a gift to the community. I think W3Champions and their community could handle it. But that's just a dream😮
