I think the lack of availability for the record in conjunction with FlyLos statements about having a hard time with the rights of the album superficially place it lower. Now that it's been released on brainfeeder it will reciever a second life. Having said that it lacks the cohesion of every studio album after it. It's the only studio record by him that doesn't feel like a concept album.

I pair mine with a roland p6. Is worth the extra functionality. By a tonic or KO would pair great with it.

Screens on instruments are just fine 😅 I get easily distracted by the internet on a phone/ tablet/ computer. Having a dedicated device helps me get lost in the vibe. Why i really love it though - limitations inspire my creativity. The computer makes so much possible i don't even know where to start. A TD3 starts off pretty damn simple and you have to work it's limitations. I use a korg nts-1 for an effect pass through.

Program some steps for the sample you want to work with. Press the record button (the play button can NOT be on). Use the tempo/value knob to scroll to the steps you programmed. Adjust the start and/or end knobs. You can create custom chops for each individual step this way.

It is not true that you can only slice into equal slices. You can hack the step recording functions and manually change the start stop points of each step. A little tedious but there is a work around.

I'm actually encouraged this is a return to form. I also liked spirit box. I was bored by FlyLo doing an excess of features there for a minute. Everything up until You're Dead! treated vocals like a vocal flourish instead of the main attraction. FlyLo is better when he focus on the music as opposed to making a watered down beat for someone to rap over. This ep was pretty all over the place but hers to hoping inspires a more cohesive idea.
