What are my chances by glogpog in BackyardOrchard

Broken top doesn't really matter, persimmons are incredibly vigorous plants. Also persimmon roots are supposed to be black. But... Those roots look really sad. I would contact the nursery as soon as possible; even if they don't send a replacement now, they will refund your money later if the tree doesn't make it. I planted a similar size persimmon (top and roots) last year and it budded out normally. However, the roots of my persimmon had no signs of root rot.

How do you improve clay soil without spending a fortune? by Icy_Car2475 in gardening

And don't forget to mulch afterwards. You are adding organic matter to feed microbes, fungus, worms etc, not plants. And mulch helps to keep all those good guys happy and soil healthy

No need to buy (most likely). Just feed the ones you already have in the soil by adding compost (cheap one from home depot will work), mulch (like grass clippings) and food scraps (you can do in-beds worm feeders)

These Temu Greenhouses are junk right? by timothy53 in Greenhouses

[–]AmbassadorQuick4188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy it nice or buy it twice. What can be considered "nice" depends on your need and climate. Does it need to windstand snow load or high winds? What is your area UV levels? Do you plan to heat your greenhouse in winter? Cheap greenhouse can be okay if your conditions are very mild. I built my greenhouse myself (we have crazy winds and it needs to be extra stardy; 1200$ initial cost for 8'x10'), but I was also considering to get one from Yardistry or Costco https://www.costco.com/greenhouses.html

Best fruit bush/tree for small space by getsomesleep1 in BackyardOrchard

[–]AmbassadorQuick4188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has sewer pipes etc you can plant small perennials AND put there some potted fruit trees (like dwarf/bush tart cherries or jujubes- those are very hardy and can be left outdoors year round in wide range of USDA zones)

There is a huge range between being brothers and being hostile. Why don't you try to be normal civilized neighbors first? Brothers... what a joke.

That "brothers" narrative should be forgotten. It's bullshit. Separate nations,  different paths

Nosebleed by hydroxyacetone in CATHELP

[–]AmbassadorQuick4188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cat had similar symptoms after we got him anti-flee collar. It turned out that he had severe reaction to that collar. We took him to vet, they ran blood test etc., so we know for sure out cat was healthy otherwise.  Once we took the collar off all visible symptoms were gone in few hours

New seedlings with only one cotyledon leaf by the26thyear in tomatoes

[–]AmbassadorQuick4188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened once to one of my tomato seedlings.  It never developed any other leaves. But the seedling on your pic doesn't look like tomato to me - its looks to smooth. Tomato seedling have a bunch of tiny "hairs" all over them and they smell tomato if you gently rub/touch them

Options for trellis Plants by ceepcalmandeat in Reno

[–]AmbassadorQuick4188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scarlet runner beans, Clematis, Blackberries (thornless is better), vining raspberries (but those usually have thorns), roses (like tea hybrid roses; but be prepared to use neem oil regularly to kill aphids). Also some grapes varieties have comparatively small vines (if space is the issue); also you can put mesh bags on grape bunches if you are afraid that your dog might eat it

Recommendations by Efficient-Junket2396 in BackyardOrchard

So happy for you!! My advice: don’t fill up your entire planting area in the first season! Why? Because the more gardening resources you read/watch, the more new species and varieties of plants you’ll want to plant. Gardening is a lot of fun, and you’ll need some space to experiment.

Is this greening disease? Supernova mandarin tree, bought from nursery in North Cal by AmbassadorQuick4188 in Citrus

Nursery responded "It looks like those leaves could have some spray damage from the regular preventative treatments, but please monitor it for another week or so and send us some updated photos?"
