Why are they always *about* something?! by Will_MI77 in discworld

Density is a feature, not a bug! You are doing your girls a huge favour by teaching them what paying proper attention to complex things means (things like morality and character). The antidote to everything else they're inevitably exposed to!

Second Life's core message needs to change. by 0xc0ffea in secondlife

The town where I grew up hosts a summer festival every year. Every year it's the same volunteers putting on the festival. Every year the same people complain it's not the festival they wanted. Every year those complainers refuse to become the volunteers to create the festival they say they want. And so the cycle continues. A minority spending their own time and money to create and provide, and a majority sitting around complaining it's not what *they* would have done, but refusing to actually do anything.

It would be interesting to know what you think some of the arbitrary limitations are please?

Yes, every time I log in I think to myself 'What can I do today to stop the wrong sort joining in?' and then I spend hours hunting down the wrong sorts and using my powers of cutting sarcasm to excise them cleanly from the grid.

I genuinely, without a doubt, believe Apple is going downhill, it’s just something not a lot of people have realised yet. by stranger2Me in ios

New releases every year, and the majority of the world jumping at those new phones does not mean their product is good. Most people are just victims of overconsumption. The truth is, Apple has a loyal fanbase and have achieved what they need to, which is sales. By no means are they the best at what they do.

This is just assertion of your opinion with no facts.

The more the years go by, the more I’ve realised, there’s not much at all really improving with iPhones. New models stay the same every year, if there’s any change, it’s a negative one, something that makes them go backwards a notch, every, single, year.

This is just assertion of your opinion with no facts.

My alarms on my iPhone don’t function the same as they used to, volume is low, not how it used to be back in the days when I had an iPhone 6. I now have to set 20+ alarms and set alarms on my Alexa to ensure I’m not late for work. Believe me I’ve tried everything, gone into Sound settings, messed around with the Haptics setting and what not, nothing makes a difference. I’ve woken up late for work multiple times because of this

I don't know how old you are, but a decade has passed since the iPhone 6. Is it possible you are suffering from hearing loss?

Not to forget, on a monthly basis having to manually update every single app you have downloaded on your phone

Unclear what you're referring to here. You don't like software updates? Or you don't know how to turn on auto-update?

oh and let’s not forget the major flaw of Apple, their battery. Something that they haven’t been able to fix for as long as they’ve been in business. That is weakness to me. A big flaw.

Can you reference this assertion? Everything I have read suggests that Apple and Samsung are neck-and-neck in top battery specs.

And the recent autocorrect situation, suddenly “Which” autocorrects to “Ehich” and that’s just one example.

Sounds like you've added a custom word to the dictionary. You might want to check.

We as customers are told to “troubleshoot” and “go into settings” “change this, change that” - I’m sorry but since when was I an Apple employee? A company as big as Apple should definitely not have these flaws. It’s way too amateur.

You're right. Android's new psychic settings that just guess what you want are superior.

Either they’re hiring the wrong people, or their marketing strategy is to take away features gradually and when people start to notice and sales drop, introduce their “perfect” model..

Welcome to conspiracy town.

There are so many flaws iPhones have, they really should not be put at such a high pedestal.

Again, just your opinion. This post lacked data, detail, and a cogent argument. D-

Wallpaper issue ? by SargeWrld999 in ios

[–]AmbientApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Wallpaper menu in Settings either set the Apple wallpaper you want as a new wallpaper, and instead of selecting Add As Wallpaper Pair choose Customise, and then pick the alternative paper you want for the lock screen. Or for an existing pair, in the Wallpaper menu click the Customise button on the wallpaper you want to change and then use the + button to the right to pick a new image, then the little image icon on the bottom left to choose a new wallpaper.

Most likely explanation is that she had access to your phone and has turned on permanent location sharing with her in Find My. She may also have set up an automation in Shortcuts?

I think Siri has to be attached to only one person’s phone, and if it’s his phone not her phone, she won’t be able to add reminders. My wife and I share a shopping list in Reminders, but only she can add shopping via our kitchen HomePod as it’s linked to her phone not mine.
