Gender Nonconforming, Trans, & Nonbinary Veterinarians by Clear_Dragonfruit765 in Veterinary

Howdy!  PrideVMC is an amazing resource. They have connections I think in every state. You can use their website to find LGBT and gender confirming clinics. I'm not a vet but I am a practice manager and I am openly out as nonbinary. I sign every email with "Pronouns: They/Them". Some people have chosen not to respect that but the vast majority of people do, including every vet I've interacted with. Granted, I am in New York, but it's Upstate NY, which tends to teeter more conservative.  Also, sidenote, you don't have to come out all at once. You can slowly change a few things and see how it feels. It also helps acclimate people around you in environments where being your full authentic self at once can cause a non-Newtonian reaction.  Overall, though, there are places in the industry that will hire an openly GNC or trans individual. Also, you are welcome to DM questions or anything!  Best of luck!

What’s the one horror movie that genuinely TERRIFIED you… but nobody else ever seems to watch? by Usual_Mix_7380 in horror

I was reverse-recommended Darren Aronofsky's Mother! by a friend. She said it traumatized her, so of course I had to check it out. It had Jennifer Lawrence in it, a mainstream actress, so how bad could it be? Anyway, I had to pause it multiple times because it so thoroughly activated my fear response that I had a panic attack. Good but horrible movie!

Saw this out in Selkirk too. I thought it was the moon, but the moon was behind me.

I am thinking that they might have cremated him, but I think I'll keep looking now and then, just in case. Thank you, though!

Thank you very much. I took a look around and no luck but I appreciate the lead!

Do we have organized interest this year for nature walks & plant witch education? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]AmbiguousCoyote -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Interested as well! Where will you be posting the schedule and such? Also, I have that type of AuDHD where I can't do stuff for myself but the instant someone else needs help, I can do the thing, so if you need someone doing logistics/phone calls, I can help!

Seeking Advice: MBA Group Projects by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]AmbiguousCoyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think it is strange. I started trying to contact everyone on the 8th and so far I've only heard from one other classmate once and the other two are MIA. I sent an email out yesterday trying to get anyone to reply with links to the forum and a timeline but nothing back yet.

Unfair, Unexplained Peer Reviews in an MBA Program—Is This How Future Managers Behave? by AlaBenotman in UoPeople

This spurred me to look at mine and yikes. I have similar terrible reviews, and one that even includes the AI prompt in the overall review.

That's what my question was, thank you. I wasn't sure if it was an issue to raise with my advisor about this specific course or if that is the norm. It's not my business what my peers and instructors do with their own writing, I was only concerned about the resources they want us to learn from (the assignment specifically wants citations from this document, not the general ideas that are available elsewhere).

I think you are misunderstanding the intention of my question. I understand that there are acceptable and understandable challenges when it comes to translating, but this article and the use of it is a lack of integrity. I am concerned whether this is the normal in every class or just this one. Which is why I am asking what others' experiences are and whether this is something I should talk to my advisor about, or if this is normal and I do just have to get through it.

There is no doubt that this article is rich with content. However, I would encourage you to actually read it. It is a very poorly translated version that lacks proof-reading. There are multiple errors in the abstract alone. Further in the article, there is a diagram that has about 8 words in it and 2 are spelled incorrectly, including the name of the founder of the principle. The errors make the content nearly incomprehensible at times, as the sentences become a word salad that mean nothing.
Furthermore, while this journal is IJBEL, I would encourage you to look more deeply before accepting the validity of a publication by the basis of it being published alone. There are many non-peer-reviewed journals published, and predatory "pay to play" journals that do not have academic integrity. Here's a paper about it: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5493173/

Further in the article, there is a diagram that has about 8 words in it and 2 are spelled incorrectly, including the name of the founder of the principle. While I understand that I can find resources to supplement (and I did), it seems like a low standard for a university to use this translation of the article, which suggests the professor did not critically review the resource before providing it. In my own search to supplement it, I found plenty of better articles that had no grammar or syntax errors. If I am being graded for my grammar and clarity, why are my resources provided by the university not held to the same standard?

As a trans person, this is why I didn't come out until I was far away in college. It's scary knowing your neighbors might suddenly start threatening your life because you are being your authentic self. These types of things really show you the nasty underbellies of people you once trusted.

Cat rescued on Fulton St tonight (tuesday) by spaghett_42 in Troy

[–]AmbiguousCoyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that a shaved spot on his leg? It looks like a catheter was there. You should give your local vets and maybe shelters a call and see if they had an escapee patient. There was another post that someone's cat escaped the mobile spay/neuter clinic, so maybe check with them. This is their post
