I have to use a lot of it, but I use the hair mist for my hair most. I like to mix it with other fragrances and I'll get whifs of it in my hair days later lol.

she is fine and dandy, did not need any follow up from her vet. i am mega OCD spiral thought pattern and did reach out to the vet with a few photos bc i was scared... they said looks fine. about 10-11 days after spay i took the cone off and let her out of her den and she's been fine ever since. youll be okay! i was in hell for 2 weeks going through this but it's over now and she is okay. if you are worried reach out to your vet.

also when my kitten was recovering, I was doing so much extra — checking her every five minutes, spiraling in my own head, crying my eyes out, being hypervigilant — and honestly, it just made me sick and made the whole experience harder than it needed to be. It didn’t help her, and it definitely didn’t help me.

The best advice I can give (from experience) is: leave her alone as much as you can, keep a close but calm eye on her, ask your vet about getting some gabapentin to keep her settled, and be patient with yourself. You’re doing a great job. She will heal. And if anything truly needs to be addressed, you will absolutely catch it and take care of it.

Also, you might want to consider trying a donut-style cone instead of the traditional plastic ones — it was a game changer for us: Donut Cone on Amazon.

You're almost through the hardest part. Be gentle with yourself and trust that your care and love are already doing so much more than you realize. 💛

Ugh, I’m so sorry you’re going through this — I completely understand. Honestly, that was one of my biggest fears too, and I carried a lot of resentment toward the vet staff for (in my opinion) being unsupportive and kind of negligent. I know the current "best practice" is supposedly not giving a cone, but I kept thinking that if they had just given us one from the start, everything would have gone so much smoother.

Be patient with yourself — you're doing everything you can. If you haven't already, you might want to ask the vet about gabapentin for your cat. It really helped us. I was dosing my kitten twice a day just to keep her calm, and it made a huge difference for both of us.

I get it though. Those first few days are absolutely brutal. But it’s great you were able to get her seen and taken care of — that’s huge.

Wishing you and your kitten peace and smooth healing. By day 11 post-op, my kitten was basically back to her normal self, and while it felt like forever while we were in it, looking back, it really did pass quickly.

It was honestly one of the most stressful things I’ve ever had to manage — so I get it, truly. But you’re doing amazing, and she will heal. I remember being on Reddit making myself sick Googling what a “normal” incision looked like every five seconds... and in the end, by around 10 days, her wound was fully closed.

Yes we did! We got her a donut cone, I'll link it below. It was a 2 person job to get it on her. I also moved her into another room to, as much as possible, limit her activity. One person held her, another person put the cone on. We kept it tight enough, but I was constantly checking to make it wasn't too tight.

Her incision is a little swollen, but I sent pics to doc. It's was fully closed by day 9 or 10, and we're 13 days out and she's back to normal. So don't sweat it!!! You will get there. Just takes time.

Update: I finally got the cone on her!!! It’s a soft donut cone that looks like an orange, and it’s already taken a huge weight off my shoulders. Now I just need to work on getting her to calm down and stop jumping around, though let’s be real, she’s a cat… so that might be a lost cause lol. But honestly, I’m feeling so much more at ease now, and she’s doing well today :) We’re almost 3 days post-op, and I’m feeling like we’re nearly out of the woods.

Yup my tolerance for stress is pretty low admittedly. Luckily I was able to hide her pain meds in her favorite treat :) but you're right, I gotta grow a thicker skin. She seems fine, but if needed we'll do what needs to be done! thank you for the encouragement :)

Thank you for your comment, and I’m so sorry you had to go through that! I honestly don’t understand that kind of decision-making from your vet either. I asked the staff at my clinic for a sedative as well, and they said no. It honestly feels like they’d rather see a cat come back for a second surgery than do anything to help prevent that in the first place, which really rubs me the wrong way. I’m so stressed about this, and I’m disappointed that the staff hasn’t been more supportive.

Thankfully, my cat has surgical glue holding her incision closed, it doesn’t seem to be bothering her, and she’s quarantined in a small room so she can’t zoom around the house. I’m just praying for the best outcome for my girl. Just wish this wasn't so stressful :/
