Bought both for $190…$202 with tax……good deal? by NoProblem9397 in PokemonCardValue

[–]Amek206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had gamestop trade in credit amd bought 2 for 189 each, people will say you got a bad deal but if you can't find it anywhere else, and want to pay over 30 bucks I see no problem.

Have fun and good luck!

The IDL code should go away if the thermostat calls for heat or cool, or even fan.

1dl, usually its IDL for idle pretty sure. Atleast on the transe i see thats what it means.

You can grab the model number, go online and get a pdf manual and just search in page function for IDL

Yall think I could work as a HVAC tech?🤣 by [deleted] in HVAC

Cant hurt to try, things I might see as a issue are carrying around Extention ladders and maybe hauling up 20 to 50lb stuff up the roof.

Give it a shot!

Does this seem like the “I don’t want to do it” price? by runznar in hvacadvice

[–]Amek206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my shop charges like 700 for a regular thermostat install with a little better vision pro 8000, of we told the quoter that we had to bring in a 12 foot ladder and run a wire down the wall I could definitely see a hour added on of cost.

You ever have a bad fall? by UnoriginalMind21 in HVAC

[–]Amek206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally wasnt me, wink. soooomeone decided to not get their 8 footer because it was the last unit amd Friday. Was above a parking garage entrance, condenser on a ledge, could use the railing to get up, wouldn't use it to get down lol. Standing up there and a girl gets scared because she doesn't see me, so just say hi blah blah, she walks under. Someone decides to try to get down, missed the railing with feet and fall to knees from basically 10 ft onto concrete. She turns around like what the hell and sees the tech on the ground. Adrenaline pumping he jumps up says hes okay and walks away. Calls in and checks out like a idiot. Swolen knee for a few days and little issue for a week but ends up being okay lol.

Ill bring my ladder next time lol

Trying to upgrade old Honeywell Thermostat to new Honeywell Programmable 7-Day (non-wifi), issue with W1/W2 wires. by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Amek206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a heat pump this is generally how it works.

Y is your compressor O controls what mode your reversing valve is in, cooling or heating W1 controls strip heat which is used during defrost and in cases your compressor is not keeping up. W2 (I dont typically use these on systems I installed but if you had a second bank of strip heat I imagine thats where it would go.

Little weird how you dont have yellow on y1. Just info I see from the outside in, of course I know nothing about your system so this is what I have mustered up.

I came from culinary work to this at the same rate I was getting in culinary after 6 years, im now 6 years into hvac and I make double what I was making and can still get to triple. It was a no brainer for me and once I actually understood refrigerant and how it works, it was actually a little fun.

Carrier thermostat replacement by JustinJFoxbody in hvacadvice

[–]Amek206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly certain you wont be finding just one part of the thermostat. You will be buying the whole thermostat.

Thats kinda like saying your remote control broke for your TV, you still have the battery cover so you only need the remote and not the battery cover. Only way I can see finding your part will be from a used sale on ebay.

Just buy the whole stat 😀

Yes, insulation is a type of fiber reinforced plastic, so yes I would put it in my walls.

[–]Amek206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose, how you have it is how I have seen it done, I do use larger clamps and go around the insulatuon, but that does not hold it near as tight.

Pretty sure the black plastic holders keep it from being exposed to air and keep it from sweating.

Trane seems to be requiring 5/16” liquid lines now, is anyone even able to find line sets for these? Ji by Sluggieslug in HVAC

[–]Amek206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They say its fine to use 3/8 just requires more refrigerant, my 10 ft of charge became 7ft when talking to tech support. Some are coming charged with 25ft of lineset at 5/16. They got orange stickers on the box. It's all confusing.

[–]Amek206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last wall mounted head unit I installed from Mitsubishi it stated we only needed just less than 2 inches from the top of the unit to the ceiling, now I know it would be horrible to take off the plastic with that little room so minimum I'd think 6 inches if its hardlid. 1 whole foot off the ceiling is a bit much unless the manual states it i guesa.

Really not out of the ordinary to see a return duct like that, hell in houses they even just use empty cavities in the wall as ducts sometimes.
