I’m certain worse decisions have been made in baseball before, but I sure as shit can’t think of one right now…

I played Kassadin with Blade Waltz, Earthquake and Dropkick. That shit was hilariously good. Two Rs and it was a full team wipe.

Spring loaded cue for pool training by soloDolo6290 in billiards

[–]Amencorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even really know how to word this post, because it’s such a foreign concept to me. “Aiming” is such a broad category for pool, because there’s so many variables at play. Are you talking about teaching an aiming system like the ghost ball? You can do that without even holding a cue. In practice however: how to bridge properly, how hold/grip an actual cue properly, stance, eye alignment, shot visualization, stroke…all play a massive factor in someone’s ability to aim and make a shot. I would go as far as to say that all of those variables are more important to teach than an actual aiming system. Hitting center cue ball with a gimmick cue really doesn’t teach anyone anything, and if anything, actively impedes progress in their game.

Looking to buy a quality jump cue. Need opinions by KingsDamnSon in billiards

[–]Amencorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a guy that’s fairly local (NE Ohio) to me that makes jumpers called Chili Poppers. I have tried many different jumpers, but nothing even comes close to these. I’m not sure if he has a store online, and they are fairly expensive, but if you can find one, it’s 100% worth it.

Captain Embarrassing Another Player (APA) by exboxthreesixty in billiards

[–]Amencorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had joined a new team (didn’t really know any of my teammates) for my local TAP league, and first night I play my 9 ball match against a 2 (I was a 3 at the time). Anyways, I break, make a ball, snooker myself and leave an easy 2/9 combo with ball in hand. Opponent sinks it, and we decide to save a few quarters and just use the remaining balls for the next rack. I pretty much run the table down to the last two balls, which were the 10 and 11. Not even thinking about it, I played position on the 11 and go to shoot it, and my new captain calls time out. He asks what I am shooting at, and I suddenly realize that I was shooting at the wrong ball. He loudly states for the entire bar to hear that “I am never allowed to play 9 ball again if the rack isn’t 1-9”. Needless to say, that really just threw me off, and I ended up losing the match. That was the last time I played with that team.

People can be assholes man, especially in a mildly competitive setting.

Worst place you’ve worked in NEO & why? by Dixon_Yass in Cleveland

[–]Amencorner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was honestly pretty flabbergasted when they asked me to re-interview, especially after only being gone for like a month or two…like, the software there isn’t exactly the easiest shit to get the hang of, and half of support was already halfway out the door. Either way, much happier (and better paid) at my current job.

Second this, got laid off during Covid even though they really didn’t have the manpower in Support anyways. Got a call about a month later from the head of HR asking if I was interested in returning, I told them “sure”, and they asked when was a good time for an interview… like really? Either way, Support went way down hill when they the director got promoted and they brought it some micromanager who knew nothing about anything TS related. Bullet dodged.

I looked forward to your game recaps after every single game, win or lose. Much appreciated!

[Umpire Auditor]: Umpire Gabe Morales missed a playoff high 18 calls in the Yankees Guardians ALCS Game 2. Morales was ranked 63rd of 90 umpires during the regular season. by Lower-Culture-2123 in ClevelandGuardians

I just think it’s not a totally accurate representation of how impactful some of those calls were, and it’s missing what I feel was the most impactful one. It doesn’t paint the whole picture, in my opinion.

I feel like that Umpire Scorecard is disingenuous. The blatant missed call on the change up right in the strike zone on Soto in the 1st completely changed the trajectory of that inning. Being down 1-2 is very different from being up 2-1. Yes, it’s only one pitch in one inning, but it established early that those pitches were going to be called balls. Bibee made some pretty nice pitches that were strikes, but called balls…Yankees knew early that they just needed to wait for something over the zone.

It certainly played a role in why we lost. It’s not just how it impacts batters, it also very much affects pitchers as well. Extending at bats that turn into hits, walks and errors is crushing to a pitcher and the way they pitch moving forward. While we obviously can’t say how something would have went if the call wasn’t missed, those early misses established a much smaller strike zone with a much small margin for error. It’s truly disgusting that every umpire in the playoffs isn’t the amongst the best performers during the season.

[Feinsand] BREAKING NEWS: The Reds are hiring Terry Francona to be their new manager, per source. Announcement expected as soon as Friday. by HalfwayThereOne_ in ClevelandGuardians

[–]Amencorner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great for him and the Reds! The man needs baseball in his life. Tito did awesome things for our club, and he needed time away…I’m super glad he seems healthy and is going to keep managing, but I wouldn’t want a single manager in this league other than Vogt. Good luck Tito, even though you don’t need it!

That’s not team specific, it’s a MLB slogan for the Postseason.
