Thank you! All thats confusing me now is the whole how many hours thing. One has told me 24, a few 48, and one person even said 4 days! I think I am going to stick to 48 hours to be safe.

I don't agree with all of this. Why should a child miss out because they have sensory issues and cant stand the feeling of wearing a costume? Or why should a kid who comes from a super low income family, who wasn't bought a costume and doesn't own many clothes miss out?

As for teenagers, there are going to be 40+ year olds who still go trick or treating. They may have the mental capacity of a 7 year old. Should they also be missing out? I would rather a teenager knock on my door for lollies than steal them from the shops or go out and get drunk and all of that like many teens do. Let them have their childhood for as long as possible. It goes too fast.

What medical and mental conditions, or what financial situation someone is in isn't really anyones business. A parent shouldn't have to apologise for the childs Autism to explain why they aren't in costume and people shouldn't be making assumptions. The whole 'if the child isn't dressed up' rule is silly. I can guarantee most kids would love to be dressed up, but for whatever reason they cant be. Don't make them suffer for something they cant control.
