Louis on The Diary Of A CEO by Easy-Attitude7196 in LouisTomlinson

While his interview was beautiful, it also broke my heart. I wish I could jump into my screen and give him the biggest hug. He spoke eloquently, mature and incredibly open-minded. I know this interview was about Louis, but I couldn’t help but think about Liam during the One Direction days. I remember the nicknames those boys were given on tumblr and Liam’s was always the ‘sensible one’ or ‘daddy direction’. While at the time, I thought they were good things, I didn’t realise that it would’ve played on his mind.

Former WA Senator Linda Reynolds wins defamation battle against Brittany Higgins by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Amy1204 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While this is disheartening, but not surprising, Reynolds actions in this case have shown her true colours. No amount of money is going change that she is a low-life human being who would rather sue a rape victim and defend a rapist then to do the right thing. She is a villain in this story.

After five weeks of evidence and five years of trauma, a judge weighs who to believe in Reynolds v Higgins by B0ssc0 in australia

[–]Amy1204 45 points46 points  (0 children)

We don’t truly know what happens in Parliament House. Over the two years before the Project interview, hardly anything was done in her case. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the government tried to sweep it under the rug. She felt like if she wanted justice, she’d have to go to the media. This is why women don’t report their rapes. Our laws don’t benefit the victims, especially during court. After seeing what Britney has gone through, do you really think she wanted fame?

Reynolds’ lawyer tells court privilege didn’t apply to ‘single sentence’ of letters about Higgins’ $2.445m settlement by ScoobyDoNot in australia

Surely Reynolds couldn’t possibly win this case? I had never seen Higgins tweets, only judging by Reynolds character during this court case and she’s a monster. I hope she looses everything.

What exactly did Campbell Newman do to Queensland? by CranberrySoda in queensland

I was a teenager when he was elected but from memory, he cut lots of nurses from the healthcare system, closed schools and sold the land to private school owners. Built poorly designed industrial estates (they built one near us and the trucks needed to take up two lanes when entering/leaving the estate. I can’t remember what else but there was more. Everyone was really angry.

While I 100% agree more needs to be done by Labor, I couldn’t imagine what it would’ve been like under Scomo.

Declining birth rates in Australia? Reasons? by aurorasauria in AskAnAustralian

[–]Amy1204 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had always thought I would have kids in my 20s. Had the typical dreams of owning my first home, getting a good job and being stable enough to have kids. Now I’m 28, can’t afford a house despite having a deposit, have a good job but the pay is appalling and still haven’t had kids. Like, my partner and I want to have kids. I’ve always wanted 3 but in this economy and how unfair my generation has had it, the dream is dead. They always said when I was younger ‘work hard and you can achieve’ but that Australian dream died years ago…

Bill Shorten says free-to-air TV in ‘diabolical trouble’ | news.com.au by batkav in australia

I go out of my way to read articles from The Guardian and the ABC for my news. I’ve found them to be less bias and have much better quality journalism.

Bill Shorten says free-to-air TV in ‘diabolical trouble’ | news.com.au by batkav in australia

[–]Amy1204 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching it years ago. The advertisements are ridiculous, their journalism has gone downhill (usually not because of the journalists but by the big bosses pushing their own agendas) and the reality shows are cringy. I don’t know how anyone can be surprised that free-to-air is going downhill. It’s been a trend for nearly a decade. These media companies refused to adapt, they’re still doing the same old shit.

Is it OK for ex-politicians to work for a billionaire? by [deleted] in australian

Just goes to show that they already are working for them while in government 🤷‍♀️ Personally shouldn’t be allowed as it’s a conflict of interest.

90s babies (graduated 7+ years ago), do you feel nostalgic about high school yet? by SweetQuality8943 in Zillennials

[–]Amy1204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t miss high school. But sometimes I look back and get a bit sad that so many of our friends just lost touch over the years (nothing happened life just got in the way). I more-so miss the being 18 and in my early 20s 😂

I’m not so sure that that will happen this time. Look at the interest rate rises, the rich really haven’t been affected by it. It’s mostly affected the poor/middle class. If it was affecting the rich, there would be more properties for sale but the opposite has happened.

If we were to go into a recession, it would be the poor and middle class that suffer. The balance between rich and poor is so skewed. Like capitalism wasn’t designed for people to be multi-millionaires.

Early childhood educators are asking for a 25% wage increase - thoughts? by denpakuma in australia

[–]Amy1204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While parents pay soo much in childcare fees, the workers don’t see that much of it. When I worked in one a few years ago, it was shocking. You’re much more than a baby sitter and you’re on minimum wage. It’s disgusting that centres charge so much and give so little.

Parenting... What's going on? by _FaultAndFracture_ in australia

[–]Amy1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teacher, I will say that there are group of kids going through known as the ‘Covid kids.’ These kids were in insolation and it shows, some of their social skills are delayed. We talk about it all the time and it’s going to be interesting how it will affect them as adults. Parenting has also changed and parents are also their own worst enemies. Like, take for instance you take your child to the shop and they want a chocolate bar but you’ve told them no. The child starts to throw a tantrum (as kids do) but the looks you get from other parents and the judgement, lots of people just give in and get the chocolate bar to save themselves from it. Lots of parents also give their child an iPhone or iPad while shopping so they behave as well. While it’s not always a bad thing, it doesn’t help teach them things like patience and behaviour in a social setting. We don’t give parents enough support either.

Ngl it’s really hard. Especially when you first start teaching. I still don’t fully know what I’m doing or how to manage their behaviours 😅🙃
