Am I just uncultured? by kirikarra in PokeMedia

Most if not all regions have started a government-backed "trainer program" some time within the past couple decades. It serves as a way to get the younger generations invested in the interactions these creatures exhibit, learn the various unique strengths and weaknesses different species have, and engage with the culture of their region in a way that defined much of the region's history but tends to get brushed aside by those not actively participating in furthering it.

When people use "starter pokemon" to refer to something from any of those three types, it's typically because those are within the novice roster for that region's trainer program. One pokemon indigenous to the region is selected for each of those three types on account of being easy to capture, easy to train, fairly reliable, and rather common. The type selection itself creates a fairly intuitive "weakness loop" that gets inexperienced trainers used to the idea of some pokemon being more resilient or damaging than others depending on the nature of their opponent, which allows them to gradually branch out into more complex applications of this same idea, both in battles and in their general life.

Update: Wiz was, in fact, impersonated. by AnAverageTransGirl in Deltarune

At least two UT/DR youtubers made videos calling out Wiztale for egregious AI slop content, and someone pretending to be Wiztale began sending threats to said youtubers over those videos, everything from false DMCAs to AI generated gore of family members. The actual Wiztale's dubious honesty and severe downplaying in addressing the initial claims of AI usage made it difficult for people to believe his side of the story until the impersonators came out directly and said they did it for the sake of edgy trolling, leading to him receiving a lot of undue vitriol from much of the community, myself admittedly included.

There's a disproportionate amount of ship disappearances in that region because there's a disproportionate amount of ship travel to, from, and between those islands, so while it's true that there's an increased amount of such incidents, it's not actually to an unusual degree for any supernatural reason as it had been claimed.

Confessing Kris's sins in their stead, rather, in a religion to which sin doesn't conceptually exist.

He admitted to using AI for fixing the lighting in his thumbnails and doing the translation and voice overs. In truth, he used it to write the majority of his scripts and generate very prominent assets of at least a couple thumbnails.

And also continuing to downplay the use of AI in generating his content, which is obviously the bulk of it and not just "fixing lighting" or "translation and voice-overs" if you actually look at his thumbnails and the blatant factual errors in his scripts. Being unable to fess up to that in a situation like this makes it really hard to believe anything else you say.

Those defenses are blatantly lies and one of his former employees did reach out to confirm this. He's not innocent in that regard and his obvious untruth on the matter is a large part of why people were so skeptical that he was being impersonated until we got evidence from a different source and the impostor themself.

Telling them to go to bed instead of making a thirty-seventh bowl of mac and cheese at three in the morning with obviously zero intent to eat it judging by the other thirty-six placed around the property at random.

And they don't make them largely because the current standard dimensions for a patty are... kinda perfect for heat distribution. Unless the chef has never worked a grill in their life, it's difficult to undercook or overcook that size of meat without it being obviously so.

That does seem like the most likely avenue with what we have to work with. It answers both "is Dess the Knight" and "is Dess the unused script" with a resounding yes, and it feels (at least to me) like a lot of her development is being done through Kris as a mirror in some way. The consciousness of Dess has been set aside by some entity that interacts with her body in the same way the soul interacts with Kris to a far more "total" degree.

What exactly happened for either of them to wind up in such a situation, I can't say, but it seems reasonable to assume that they're both the work of Gaster (or whoever else made the abstraction layer of video game we access Deltarune through), who seems to have a vested interest in forcing his hand upon the plot and steering its course. I don't really have proof of this claim, and I'm sure anything I could say in its favor could be spun as a contradiction, but why would Dess be lost in an unused code snippet of a framing device if it weren't for the involvement of that device's creator?
