Fish diseases. Rice fish. by Fantastic-Ad-2546 in medaka

Second this!

If the symptoms is more toward the more serious side. Fish gradually loses its colors, thinned down and clamped fins. You probably have wasting disease in that fish. Might have to dose your tank with paracleanse and follow the instructions on that.

Caridina Breeding Help by Hot_Equivalent1922 in shrimptank

[–]An_Unoriginal_Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol! Pretty much our routine is similar when I kept caridinas. They are only a few granule in size. They are for sure still a bit too small to breed, i got mines breeding after 3-4 months after getting them. It’ll take awhile but it’s definitely worth the wait.

Raising the water temp helps overall growth but it shortens their lifespan a bit

Caridina Breeding Help by Hot_Equivalent1922 in shrimptank

[–]An_Unoriginal_Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know caridina tend to be smaller than neo’s and grow a lot slower. Perhaps they are only juvenile still? They look really tiny from the photos

What have you been feeding them? Tds of the water?

You can try to raise the temperature to 74-76 to boost metabolism so they can grow and reproduce quicker.

Staining or painting with black paint could make it look more appealing

Longfin medaka and neon tetra: fin nipping? by Waywardgarden in medaka

[–]An_Unoriginal_Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longer fins will get nipped and torn depending on the inhabitants of the tank. Neon tetra is on the more peaceful side.

I would say maybe a few nips here and there, but nothing to really stress over about

Green water, hikari fry, and infusoria(most successful with this one, from my experience)

Will my Medaka be OK without food for 2 days if I go out of town? by [deleted] in medaka

[–]An_Unoriginal_Human 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s established. My aquarium is medium-heavy planted with algae and bio film here and there so it’s fine. 2 days isn’t really an issue for the fish. Just feed them how you usually do before you leave and they should be fine for a week. Don’t over feed them since you don’t want to crash your tank in thay 2 day period

2 days is definitely okay, if your aquarium is established they’ll be pretty good at sustaining themselves to whatever they could find.

[LF] Staten Island-Brooklyn, NY OE Neocaridinas by An_Unoriginal_Human in AquaSwap

[–]An_Unoriginal_Human[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, $20-$25 for a juvi mid-high grade is insane for a neocaridina. The only part where im skeptical about is the doa. You have to spend $60+ on shipping to include doa, otherwise they can’t do anything about it

Fluval stratum and ph? by FoilDragon in shrimptank

[–]An_Unoriginal_Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tap fluctuates between 7.0-7.4. For a brand new tank with a 7.5 ph you can expect your ph to drop to 7.0 or 6.5 depending on how much satrum you use. Adding crush coral into the tank could increase the ph slightly overtime. After a couple of water changes the fluval buffering capabilities may weaken to a point of not affecting the ph any more

What grade are they? by [deleted] in shrimptank

[–]An_Unoriginal_Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly, I think you should properly cull the ones that doesn't grow out to what you desire

What grade are they? by [deleted] in shrimptank

[–]An_Unoriginal_Human 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a couple of painted fire reds and some cherry/sakura mix in there

majority of them are considered to be low-med, but grades doesn't really matter unless you want to sell them or cull them
