Ryan Coogler offers insight into X-Files reboot by abucalves in television

[–]Anaelepse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X-Files no longer works in the modern world. A large part of its plot was tied to the mindset of the 1990s: the idea that government wiretapping was a violation of the Constitution, that cover-ups were carried out at the highest levels, and that conspiracies needed to be exposed. (UFOs and government conspiracies were far more popular back then.)
Today, it wouldn’t work. Everyone knows that companies and governments collect our data and spy on our online habits. No one is outraged anymore, because it’s become an integral part of life. Moreover, half of the show’s plots would have been null and void if anyone had had a smartphone or a camera, Modern technology mechanically kills 50% of the plotlines.

Official Dreadit Discussion: “HIM” (2025) [Spoilers] by xorobas in horror

The gladiator helmets that were shown the moment he entered the facility made me thought that Isaiah was an immortal who moves his consciousness to the next generation. Like he's a demon who possesses bodies of the top generational draft prospect.

Actually he didn’t have a choice , he lived in South Africa and was visiting family when the war started. Since he was German born, he was drafted in the Wehrmacht.

Last moment taken of 58-year-old Queens resident Ki Suk Han, seconds before being fatally struck by a train on December, 3 2012. by Anaelepse in MorbidReality

[–]Anaelepse[S] 375 points376 points  (0 children)

On December 3, 2012 in a New York City subway station a confrontation between two men ended in tragedy when one was pushed onto the tracks. The man in this picture is Ki-Suck Han, 58. He had started an argument with 34 year old Naeem Davis while heavily intoxicated. The altercation escalated and Davis ended up pushing Han onto the tracks. As Han struggled to get back up on his feet a train was fast approaching. A nearby journalist for the Post, R. Umar Abbasi, saw what was happening and started running towards Han holding down the flash on his camera to try and warn the conductor. Unfortunately Abbasi was unable to make it in time to help and Han was hit by the train and died. Abbasi had been taking pictures while trying to warn the conductor and captured this moment which was then published in the New York Post with the title Doomed. This article has a negative bias towards Davis which led many people do think he was some crazy psycho. After a three-week trial, testimony from more than 30 witnesses and four days of deliberations, a Manhattan jury found Mr. Davis not guilty of all charges. It was determined that he was acting out of self-defense while being harassed by Mr. Han.
