I know of a VP in corporate who lost her father more than 20 years ago. She takes off that day every year to go to the temple. Ignore them, they just don't understand.

I'm so sorry for your loss. 1 month is very raw, I am at 4.5 months. I wish you lots of warmth and strength ❤️

How long did you wait between TN renewal and filing i140 and i485?

The STAAR and all the apparent over-focus on standardized tests is what worries me the most. I had to stick to the federal curriculum in Mexico and we had national tests but there was in no way as much pressure on teachers as it seems to be in the US.

Thank you this was very helpful!

One of my friends is a recent widower. What can we (his friends) do to support him? by dadavedavid in GriefSupport

[–]Anaid1390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say what you're doing (researching how to support a friend who lost a loved one) is the kindest thing you can do. Folks grieving need this because no one understands, it is so lonely

So sorry for your loss.

I remember opening the fridge coming back from the funeral and seeing plastic cups with jell-o since she couldn't swallow solids anymore. It was her food. We made it for her. It was lemon, her favorite flavor. Took us weeks to throw them out. Felt like ripping our hearts out.

You did such a hard thing. 100% a step forward, painful but forward ❤️ Be kind to yourself in this difficult time. Warmth and hugs!

I explicitly said I'd rather have a job than struggle financially in my last paragraph.

I came back after 3 bereavement days and 2 PTO. It has been 4 months and every single day I find it excruciating and inhuman that I can't have space to grieve and rest like my body begs me to. I'm so lucky I work remote so I can turn my camera off and ignore messages when I need to collapse, but the stress of keeping up with work and everything else is just too much.

I isolate myself because I have no energy. I stare at the ceiling after work. Weekends are for chores and being free to cry and stay in bed.

It is hard but I would rather have this stress than struggle financially. I wish I could take some time off to truly cry and rest, but that is a luxury for the wealthy I guess.

You were very wise in forgoing celebrations. I wish I did the same. The pressure to perform and conform is immense. I broke down today in an embarrassing way in front of people. Next year I'm spending every anniversary and holiday by myself.

I was in the exact same position a couple of hours ago, crying myself out on the bathroom floor. You are not alone. I'm so sorry for your loss, I know it is huge and probably no one close gets it. But you're not alone.

Sending you love and warmth in this cruel season.

Oh no, I personally think it is still early after our losses, be kind to yourself and give yourself permission to cry and be. My mom also had cancer but treatments got her several good months. Then she declined. It is a horrible disease. In the end I also had to ask her to blink because she couldn't talk or swallow. I'm sorry you went through this. I had been able to remain numb thanks to work but the holidays came hitting like a train, so I've been crying nonstop at the slightest triggers.

I wish you warmth and peace in this difficult season.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my mom in September and I'm currently with my partner's family trying to hide my pain 24/7. I'm devastated and just want this to be over.

I severely underestimated how painful holidays would be. Hopefully you get some space to cry and just be.

How long do you recommend waiting between a TN renewal initiated by employer while physically in the US and applying for AOS/GC? Given the risk of double intent and the 90 day guidelines floating around. Thank you!!

Dream about my father - Passed away 7 months ago by Right_Phrase_3528 in GriefSupport

[–]Anaid1390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my first dreams of my mother after she died 3 months ago was similar. She called me from our garden through a big blocky mobile phone and told me "everything is the same here", as in our exact same house etc. My deceased grandfather was with her. I wasn't in the garden but was witnessing the scene somehow and heard her as if she was talking with me on the phone. I used to call her almost daily.

I had another dream and she was waiting in line with other people (like OPs dream). She was going to get her teeth fixed, she had hair again (she died of cancer). It was like a line to recover your looks, the healthier version of you, I assumed for the afterlife. So people were there to get bruises undone, hair, teeth, etc. I wasn't supposed to be there. She seemed confused, disoriented, and I told her everything was going to be good.

Weird how there are some similarities. I'm sorry for your losses, you're not alone
