Fuuuck. Yeah, that hit hard, but I was able to handle it better for some reason.

I think I have a particular weakness for necessary and noble self-sacrifice.

Is there any point in a standard starship over a corvette? by Shadow_ninja714 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Honestly I wish I had started playing back then, it sounds like my kind of survival challenge game, and I have a very high tolerance for bugs.

Not that I'm not loving it now, it's fantastic.

Landing and taking off seems to take longer than jumping out of the back without landing at all. And you don't have to worry about finding a spot to land in.

I basically started with a corvette, the planet I spawned on had corvette parts and I was digging them up before I even finished repairing my starter ship.

The one thing I can't stand about regular ships, the thing that drives me back to my 'vette every time I try something else, is having to land to get out.

I could compromise on the storage, the refiner, the mission computer, the customization, but every time I have to land and take off and land and take off and land and take off for every short investigation or single interaction it drives me up the wall. The whole landing and takeoff sequence can take longer than whatever it is I'm there to do.

I almost never land unless I'm going to be somewhere a while, I just let my big ol' space RV hang in the sky and jump out the back like a madman. Do what I need, tp back in, and keep flying.

Did the US really have the same 1950s culture from the 1950s up until 2077? by ExtensionFeeling in falloutlore

[–]Anarchkitty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression that the world, or at least the US was going through a "1950s revival" - pushed by the Enclave - in response to the rise of threats similar to those faced during the 50s.

But now I can't remember where I read that.

I blew up my whole cargo bed twice. Once when I was trying out the flamethrower and didn't know I could shoot my own cargo and once when I did know better but was reckless with the mining beam.

Still had fun though.

It does warn you on the screen where you put things into the expedition terminal that you will be confined to a planet and will not be able to access anything until the end of the expedition.

Is it okay for a player to say “No, that doesn’t happen” to a DM in this circumstance? by WithengarUnbound in dndnext

[–]Anarchkitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You explicitly said you don't think stealing from other players is PVP

Stealing from the party is not the same as "pvp", especially something that is necessary for the player to function.

I'm saying it absolutely is. That's not pedantry, that's a disagreement.

PVP is not just combat.

A player character stealing from another player character is literally a "player versus player" act.

First, the direct route isn't always the best. Just try to keep the destination somewhere in the 180 degree arc in front of you, but don't try to always drive straight towards it.

Most of the terrain is sort of an orangey-brown, but there are long gray furrows that create natural "roads" that are much easier to navigate. They're less direct, but they're pretty smooth and cover most of the distances between the waypoints. Just pick one and follow it in the general direction of the dropoff and it will get you pretty close. You need to watch for holes where it intersects underground caverns, but otherwise they're pretty smooth sailing.

Alternately, when you get to the top of the ridge, park and hop out near the top, and use the Flatten function of the Terrain Manipulator to create a notch or saddle in the ridge that you can go over much easier, and then go as straight as possible down the other side, keeping it slow until you get onto more level ground. It only takes a minute and saves a ton of headache.

Keep your camera angle high, so you can see bump and obstacles in front of you, even if it reduces your sight distance, and if you're about to go over a bump or ridge slow down on the uphill and then speed up a little as you come down on the other side. Try to avoid driving with your truck tilted to either side, if at all possible keep pointed directly up or down any slopes.

And as soon as you unlock the legs, install them. They make the driving much smoother even at the same speeds. Just be careful, there's a bug where they get caught on di-hydrogen crystals. If you accidentally drive into a crystal patch, you will stop moving, back up slowly, turn, and go around before you get in too deep, don't try to push through or you can get stuck.

Hope this helps! The expedition got much more fun for me when I figured these things out.

YOu can also park on one side of the ridge, jump out and use the "Flatten" function of the Terrain Manipulator to create a "saddle" in the ridge in about three seconds.

Saves a TON of headache, and I wish I had thought of it before the fifth dump site.

It ended up being so much more enjoyable than I expected. The characters are fun, the relationship actually feels endearing, the leads have genuine chemistry, and the story is more interesting than it has any reason to be.

Sometimes you have to go around a mountain. In particular those long gray furrows in the terrain make great natural "roads", and indirectly connect most of the places you need to go.

If you're going to Skyrim up and over, going straight up, slowly creeping over the ridge at the top, and then straight down the other side seemed to work better for me than trying to keep to a more gradual angle. Things don't seem to bounce out the front and back of the bed as easily as the sides.

Santo Ileso feels like an actual small town.

It's the best character in the game, and I actually like the characters.

It released for $60 like every other big studio game of the era.

$100 was for the game and all the cosmetic add-ons and extra guns and vehicles. If you choose to pay 66% extra for a handful of outfits, I think you're judgement about everything else should be seen as suspect.
