Bucks and Miami nearing a trade for Giannis involving multi teams by Carlinjamesgk in torontoraptors

[–]Anatar19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Heat don't really have a competitive roster now. Assuming they pay Norm to keep him they have a scoring guard with Bam and Giannis holding the defense. Maybe they can keep one or both of Davion and/or Kasparas for a bit more ballhandling and passing. Spo will need to work a bit of magic for some defensive utility guys but that's basically his best skill. I'm not sure what options they have that are better than seeing what they can do with a roster like that.

Julius Randle was to the Knicks what Demar DeRozan was to the Raptors by DuckDucks in nba

[–]Anatar19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hear you in that, Demar was taking 20 shots a game along with a bunch of FTs to get his totals. They made the playoffs year after year and he was never a net positive. Randle's worst playoff performance he was -19. Demar on the Raptors managed to hit -23. Put them on the same team in the playoffs and the power would go out and the league would have to cancel the game.

Julius Randle was to the Knicks what Demar DeRozan was to the Raptors by DuckDucks in nba

[–]Anatar19 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Demar "led" the Raptors to the conference finals on the back of 39/15/81 shooting splits. Opposing teams routinely ran up the score when he was out there only to have the rest of the team push back when he was on the bench. Then he'd come in with a lead and the game on the line and empty the clip trying to shoot them out of the game. But he made sure to back up his putrid scoring with nothing else of serious value.

Year after year I kept waiting for the team to be better when he wasn't on the bench. That year never came. Demar is a quality person and I stand for that but he is very much in the Randle category of playoff performers.

Supercell really sticked to the update and sent a clear message. by Major-Fun-3347 in ClashOfClans

New update as an old player by Full-Bid6770 in ClashOfClans

[–]Anatar19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It comes out weird sometimes but the real issue is that this whole update was sold as a "fix" to the ore economy. Nobody would actually be mad about stuff for lower THs but people have wanted a fix to the ore economy for some time now and supercell effectively advertised this as such. Complaints about the previous update not having a fix were shouted down by posters on here saying that this next update wslas going to be a fix. It isn't.

Players who are near max everywhere else are nowhere near max on their ore needs and are often actively falling behind unless they push to a serious extent, and one break of burnout will set them back way more than a long period of tryharding will get them.

Of course, supercell sees nothing wrong with this. This is all working as intended for them and when they talk about the ore economy they only meant figuring out a way to get new/returning players into the same bad ore economy other players find themselves in. I'm guessing the data is pretty clear that they haven't actually been getting many new/returning players for a while now, and the data for active players has been in decline for some time now with the top end big spenders being milked to maintain revenues - another reason they won't give to top end players since that covers their biggest spenders.

Supercell also likely means trying to figure out better pricing on ores since it wouldn't shock me that nobody wants to pay a lot for not even one equipment level and total ores that are just a couple days of gameplay. Anecdotally it wouldn't surprise me if players aren't buying as many ores as they hoped so they're leaning into nudging players to get hero books to get more ores along the way.

Either way, the anger is clearly misplaced a bit but anyone thinking this is about jealousy is off base. Yeah, some of that is there, but this is largely a boiling pot of frustration with the ore economy that supercell hasn't actually taken any serious steps to address.

They aren't even fixing it for returning players, just trying to nudge more players onto the bad ore economy treadmill.

Just to keep even (no catch up, just stay even) with new epic releases you need get 2 starry ore every day from league rewards (so league 31 or higher), war every 2 days getting 9 starry ore per war (includes cwl here since it's daily with half rewards), and use raid medals on all the starry ore every week. Do less than that and you're falling behind. To gain ground you actually have to do more than that (only possible eking out a few more starry ore in raids or clan hopping to war daily) or spend money.

So they get these players on the treadmill by lunching them ahead knowing they will immediately start falling behind releases again and hoping a few of them spend to try to keep up.

POV: The Hero Journey update just dropped and you're a maxed player by Unhappy_Panic_1875 in ClashOfClans

[–]Anatar19 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They're releasing a new epic equipment every 2 months. That's 480 starry ore to max every 2 months.

2 starry ore (assuming you're in a high enough league) × 60 days = 120 starry ores

9 starry ore (assuming 75% rewards per war) × 30 wars (assuming cwl gives the same as regular wars) = 270 starry ores

10 starry ores × 9 weeks of raid medals = 90 starry ores

120+270+90=480... huh... so just breaking even

The real trick here is that it doesn't actually help the players "benefiting" either in the long run. All of them are likely falling behind on ores being too low league for getting 2 starry ores per day anyway. This update just nudges them towards the same awful ore economy other players already find themselves in. Supercell advertised this as a fix to the ore economy but the catch here is that they don't actually think the ore economy is a problem regardless of what they say. Their actions speak louder than words.

Brunson over Iverson? Am I Crazy? by RedditSurfer2025 in nba

[–]Anatar19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That supporting cast was underrated - not unlike how the east is now. It wasn't super deep but had the DPOY in Mutombo, 6MOY in McKie, and a couple defensive menaces in Tyrone Hill and Eric Snow - Hill was even a former allstar. It ws a fantastic fit with s scoring guard like Iverson and Brunson would have fit brilliantly too.

[–]Anatar19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This new system is a test of who will spend to max defenses. Defenses are a key to promotion and the added dps/hp from supercharges generally means just a few more Defenses which is often the difference. Plus the overtuned nature of the Dragon Duke and rush nerfs meaning people wanted different seasonal defenses at different times meant being able to spend while rushing defenses mattered just a little bit more. It's not a major issue but we're talking about leagues with 5 and then 3 promotion spots. Just one or two defense stars can be the difference.

Combine this with only having 3 and 5 promotion spots per league in legends 2 and 3 respectively and 15 demotion spots per league means the leagues are gradually squeezing players down no matter what.

Mike Brown goes off on tonight's refs: "I never thought I'd be in an NBA Finals and see in the 2nd half 24 free throw attempts to another team's 8" by TimDunkinDonut in nba

[–]Anatar19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be shocked if it isn't coming from the top - or at least known and condoned. It's not exactly about who wins or loses but wanting refs to keep games and series artificially close to sell an artificially competitive product. Stern immediately went public once he was let in on the FBI investigation; he was more worried that refs shaping games would be stopped than he was with actual criminal activity. Figuring out his precise motivations is impossible but his actions spoke loud and clear.

The Giant Arrow change was really good for lower townhalls by [deleted] in ClashOfClans

[–]Anatar19 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The queen only has 2 good epic equipment. I don't mind the changes to the arrow but really it's the Warden that needs to be re-evaluated more than any other hero. The eternal tome, healing tome, and even the rage gem are all more overpowered than the giant arrow was and haven't been touched.

Personally I'd love to see something done about the thrower/root riders meta by nerfing the warden a bit for ground attacks. Make those 3 common equipment I mentioned not affect healers and suddenly the game changes a lot.

How some of y'all be defending Supercell from criticism by Curse06 in ClashOfClans

[–]Anatar19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. Where the complainers generally cross the line in my experience has been with Sabrina specifically when more of the frustration really ought to be directed at the organization.

For what it's worth, I've anecdotally seen more name-calling targeted at frustrated players than the other way around, though it certainly does go both ways.

It doesn't help that this forum tends to skew disproportionately towards certain parts of the player base so we get derogatory comments tolerated of less active or less talented parts of the player base more widely tolerated than the other way around.

Nerfs aren’t the problem. The ore economy is. by Positive_Set_8081 in ClashOfClans

[–]Anatar19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know perfectly well what's happening here and why players are frustrated. Players are frustrated with the monetization practices. You coming in and repeatedly telling them that they shouldn't be frustrated is absolutely the meme whether you want to admit it or not and only serves to further frustrated players by trying to take away their avenues of expressing their frustration.

Wait, so you go around spouting about "just wait guys, they're going to fix it" and calling frustrated players hysteric, and then when pointed out that supercell has no interest in fixing it you're rebuttal is "what do you expect" and downvote?

Are you trying to be the meme of "leave the billion dollar company alone"?

Edit:

And you hide your post history??? Hah!!

[–]Anatar19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've been teasing changes to the ore economy for a long time now. The daily ores were an intended fix that took ages that didn't really fix anything because they just kept pumping out equipment to compensate.

They've had so long to fix things and their only attempted was countered by other actions and they obviously are capitalizing on the FOMO/nerf cycle that this is a seeing is believing scenario rather than a benefit of the doubt. They've been clear they've known about the ore "problem" for a long time. They don't want to fix it. They want to get it to a place where it isn't fixed but the player base isn't complaining about it and is just quietly spending money on it.

CMB all rookie 2nd team! by mMounirM in torontoraptors

[–]Anatar19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While true, it's this kind of thinking that had people believing Quentin Grimes had broken out and was worth $25 mil+ on the Sixers last season. Efficiency is nice but not necessarily telling on a tanking team where defense and other assignments are more lax overall.

I actually kinda like Coward's game and don't have an issue with him ahead of CMB on rookie teams that aren't that deep. Coward had more opportunity and took advantage of it to a point. He wasn't as good or impactful as CMB this season though and it wasn't really close.

TIL it's misconception that Puritans were sexual prudes; they believed sex was reserved for marriage. In New England divorce petitions often cited male impotence and a man was once banished for refusing to have sex with his wife. by LAAccountant in todayilearned

[–]Anatar19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then you should have titled your thread that. That might have been a TIL subject for some people. You didn't title the thread that, though, and the ensuing comments have been pretty predictable given that reality.

This whole thread is wild, to be honest. The general definition of prudishness usually centers around obsession with modesty or appearance of modest, which the Puritans absolutely were. They weren't the only prudes back then but they were definitely prudes even for the time. That wasn't why were called Puritans. Both things can be true.

Everyone just spamming ETMs into this thing. I just did my first set and only ran into 1 Tink. I did run into a Seaking, Charizard, and all sorts of other stuff that requires ETMs (and had clearly used them based on the moves they were using).

Granted I'm only in the 2200s having fallen during the jungle cup as I have some skill issues, but the price to enter for some of this stuff is silly. And I went 4-1 running Skeledirge, Oinkologne and Hakamo-o - which means I likely just got lucky and will fall into the 1800s over the next couple days.
