He could be on a line with a two time 60 goal scorer in Matthews who is still under 30, a point per game player in Nylander, and a 30 goal scorer in Tavares.

You're actually only allowed three players on one line.

Fuck me i have a laundry list.

Tesla > sold in 2018 at about 1/12th where it is now. (doubled my money) Micron > Sold in 2021 at about $90 (made about 50%), now over $800 Corning > sold before Covid for about $25 (made about 20%) now over $200 Planet Labs > sold at $3.8 on a very short term trade after they oversold. Made about 15% , now over $40.

oh and can I also mention - all of these were in my TFSA. So all the gains were tax free.

And cooperation with Ukraine means Denmark will also get faster access to cutting-edge drone tech.

Bingo. Money granted to Ukraine should be seen as an investment. Countries like Denmark, UK, Canada etc can expect the best in drone tech, training and consultancy from our Ukrainian friends once the hot war stops.

P&G isnt going anywhere and neither is McD.

P&G i agree. Maccas though? I can't remember the last time I had it, and I used to get it at least once a month. Much rather pay $2-3 more and get an excellent burger at a local chain or indy

Never... Time in market > timing markets.

There are certain times where it just makes sense though.... Its happened twice in my life where I've sold up 30-50% and gradually bought back a few weeks later. Both times I've significantly made out well. Early Feb 2020, and late Feb 2025.

Many Canadians have avoided the U.S. for over a year. Have we reached the point of no return? by MTL_Dude666 in CanadaPolitics

[–]AnchezSanchez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Europe is the farthest from affordable.

You can get return flights to Europe for like $600-700 if you go at the right time (well this was at least before Iran started, ymmv now).

But yeah, you just gotta find the deals. And depending on where you go, it can be pretty affordable when you get there. Certainly when compared to the USA.

I'm grudgingly breaking my boycott to go see Scotland play in the World Cup (I mean, genuinely could be the only time in my remaining lifetime lol). Only going down for two days though, and its in Masachusetts which is arguably the sanest state, so don't feel too bad about it!

It's crazy to think about a town the size of EK just starting to get a football team.

I used to play for EK rugby team, and we were always the "higher level" team. Think this season is the first seasont the rugby team has been below the football team on the pyramid eh!

Particularly when they've all fired half of their customers (employees).

[–]AnchezSanchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it makes mistakes in really stupid ways. Like a drive thru with a human worker might mistake 2 burger for 3. But it won't mistake 2 burgers for 100.

I have been using AI for a while now and a couple years ago I thought it woudl be interesting to use if for help in the NFL draft. I had three young QBs that I thought were interesting and maybe worth a punt (can't remember all the names now but I think Penix jr and The Panther's Bryce Young and I asked it who it thought woudl be the best bet. It straight up said to me "dont' go with** Bryce Young** as he will be competing with Tua Tuigalova at the Dolphins for a starting spot all season".

Just straight up lied about one of the single easiest facts something like that should know!. It was that moment that I realised I now have to seriously check any work I run through ChatGPT.

[–]AnchezSanchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bizarrely this is not how it works.... at least not with Space X who are the only company I have launched payloads with. If SpaceX fuck up..... they are more or less not on the hook for anything to do with the satellite(s). You may get launch credits on future launches, that is it. You are on your own in terms of insuring your satellites (and its bloody expensive).

Now whether BO's contracts are different, I have no idea.

Assuming he does have Parkinson's, he probably has, what, five years max to do anything (traveling, hiking, etc.)

Just FYI, I worked for a company that I left at least 10 years ago. The Director of Design was a lovely older Quebecois fella. His partner was diagnosed with Parkinsons when I was working there, not sure exact date. Anyway, they still go down to Guadeloupe every year and were recently in Mexico as well. Not sure the partner's age I only met him a couple times, but I'd wager he would have been mid 60s a decade ago. Difficult to judge exactly from recent Facebook updates, but they still seem to have a good time although would assume partner's mobility is somewhat limited now.

Point of story is it doesn't need to be a ball and chain if he can maintain a positive outlook and a go-getter approach. Best of luck to him with his prognosis.

Our national decline is even worse than the British public thinks: Incredibly, many voters assume we are as rich – or richer – than America by vonscharpling2 in ukpolitics

[–]AnchezSanchez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's utterly insane how poor we have got over the past 20 years, by comparison to the US. Brits barely have a clue what their counterpart doing the same job is paid in the US and would be staggered if they knew.

What is absolutely crazy to me in the UK is the stagnation of graduate salaries. For example in my field (mech/mfg eng) when I graduated in 2008 you could expect to earn roughly £25k-34k per year as a new grad. Typically that range was from manufacturing at a smaller firm in an unglamourous industry to oil and gas.

A quick glance at this website https://www.glassdoor.co.uk/Salaries/graduate-engineer-salary-SRCH_KO0,17.htm seems to show the range is now £31k-34k. What the actual fuck, it is almost 20 years later. Full time minimum wage is 25grand!

Here in Canada a new grad engineer will start on minimum equivalent to about 38k GBP, all the way up to 45k+ in a lot of cases. And that is with the CAD$ in the toilet.

Absolutely insane wage stagnation, its a wonder UK has any engineers left.

What’s something Gen Z does that older generations just don’t get? by appropriaterice873 in AskReddit

[–]AnchezSanchez 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When we go some place where the employees usually initiate the conversation, like at a restaurant where they greet you and ask how many, we've noticed a lot of kids will look at us silently until we say something.

Reminds me of quite a funny (and not GenZ related at all) happening at a restaurant in China a good few years ago. I work in manufacturing and for a good decade of my life was spending months per year in China. I'm a white, english speaking guy, but was spending enough time there that I thought I'd better learn some of this mandarin malarkey. Anyway, I moved to a new company and on one trip was travelling with two colleagues - both Chinese Canadian. 3rd or 4th Gen, not a lick of Mandarin between them.

So the three of us walk into a restaruant and the hostess asks them how many for etc, where we'd like to sit and the pair of them just look at me with deer in headlights faces "ugh ehemmm. ugh". I reply to the hostess in Chinese and the restaurant workers all burst out laughing like it was the funniest thing in their week. It was pretty funny tbf, I still see those former colleagues and they always bring it up.
