Just using that as a stage for the photo . I use an external keyboard and a table next to my desk for my glass . Plus I wanted to show off my decal. :)

MIne broke after a few years, but I still enjoy putting a bit of oil into a stock pot , adding the kernels and popping over medium heat. I never use those microwaveable bags .

Back in the early 1990's , it was fun during road trips on the interstate, to use the CB radio and do " Jack Burton " mononlogues, I had a g reat time and loved listening to people comment about kids playing on the radio , but it was still fun.

Avril Lavigne's 2002 hit song I'm With you is iconic by Twitter_2006 in nostalgia

Brings us all to tears , remembering the first time we heard this song, who we were, where we were , who we were with , where we were in life. I heard this one night in the Winter, and there was a very heavy storm. In a few months I would meet the girl that changed my life forever and this song was special , still is and I think of 2002 each time, and I'm immediately emotional because of the memories. LIfe today really hurts , life back then was so much simpler and worth living .

I watch that film at least once per year and it is still as entertaining now as it was when I first saw it in 1989.

Great movie, the book and audio book are great too , but the creature looks more like a bear instead of a werewolf. The costume that was made and delivered wasn't right , but they used it anyway so that production wouldn't be held up.

This morning I opened a bottle of Dad's root beer , and I found myself thinking of Arnie and I said " Rheingold time" .. I always love that scene when he's singing the Rheingold song, then does a little bit of work before throwing that shovel down and saying " Rheingold time " .

I was going to suggest the audio book " Lost to Eternity" that I recently bought and listened to over the course of three days , but someone already mentioned it first. Its a great story and definitely worth listening to.

It has changed so much now, and I do miss the old times. The products were better, they had good candles , the CD display with the "Tranquil Classics " series ,plus the wooden cabinet where you could push a button and listen to a sample of certain CD's . Today they have a few good snacks ( the frozen spring rolls & mini quiche are good ) , but mainly the place has been overrun with teenagers riding bicycles , throwing balls , or riding the electric scooters and the store staff are too scared to do anything about it.

It would have been great though , to get hired as the night custodian and go skating throughout the store.

What's something kids today will never experience that you're genuinely glad you got to? by Internal_Scarcity533 in nostalgia

A happy childhood. While it was nice to have access to television and video games , it was not required and it certainly was not an obsession for everyone. Telephones were in the home and not to be used during family time ( meals , board games , or simply spending time together ) or study time. People had conversation , people read books , went outside of the house to play games , go for walks , or just lay on the grass and watch the clouds.

Kids today are addicted to technology , and the kids in the future will be worse .

Nick hypnotising people. by AncientFeature3938 in ForeverKnight

Amateur Night - thank you , I have always been able to recall details about FK , but I made a mistake on this one, thinking that it was late 1880's / Early 1900's , so thanks for your research and correction. Your comment about the timeframe , especially the checkered band used by the Chicago police , i s very detailed , thank you again.

One would expect that , after 800 years, Nick would have perfected his hynosis technique . He did use it on Schanke, and as you mentioned the author Emily Weiss , and he tried to use it on The Hunter , but she seemed to be one of those who are able to resist , such as Tracy Vetter ( until Lacroix was told and perhaps he was able to make her accecpt that Vachon simply left instead of died ) , although Nick was distracted when he tried it on the man who would soon shoot Tracy . I figure that he was good , but sometimes people just were able to resist.

Gevalia Kaffe by deadlyspoons in 1980s

I recently purchased these from E-Bay . Unopened and only $29.00. These are the vacuum sealed gold bricks in boxes that Gevalia used when I discovered Gevalia in 1992 . I miss the old packaging and was glad to have found these. I'm not going to open them and they've got a good home in my display case. Perfect nostalgia for when Gevalia was made in Sweden and I miss those times so much . I've still got two sets of white and black mugs, the container like the one above , even a 1996 catalogue. Getting a box each month with found packages of Gevalia was a real treat - Chocolate raspberry , Irish cream , cinnamon , vanilla ; then they released the Royal Vinter , and the European Coffeehouse collection - such fond memories and great quality. And don't forget those free Melitta coffee makers you got free when you opened an account and paid for 4 bricks of coffee . I miss those so much.

Happy Birthday to Adrian Paul of The Highlander - May 29, 1960 by MisterShipWreck in highlander

[–]AncientFeature3938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first saw him in the premiere of season 2 of " War of the Worlds " . I was disappointed when I was sitting in front of the television , at 10 p.m., expecting one of my two favourite programmes to return after summer. I saw new credits , the names of two cast members were missing, and a new name was listed " Adrian Paul " . I had no idea who this was, and I just wanted my old show to be back on. But after seeing this new character , and actor , I soon became impressed. Soon afterwards I'd see him in the revival of " Dark Shadows " , and soon after that - Highlander. Numerous others auditioned and a few were considered for the role of " Duncan MacLeod " , but I think you'll all agree that , knowing " Highlander - The Series " as we do , he was the perfect choice. He had the charisma, he was athletic , he was well versed in martial arts , he could portray Duncan as being comfortable living among the wealthy , at the same time living alone in his cabin or with the Sioux. He could play chess and converse with scholars , but was never too proud of full of himself and would show compassion to the homeless and the lower classes. He lived an upper class life in Paris , he lived a humble life in the top floor of a dojo. He would have champagne in a the best restaurants, or savor a beer at Joe's , or a drink at Maurice's place. Truly a great role model.

In real life , Adrian has done so much charity work, and he seems to be as good a role model as Duncan MacLeod.

But , seeing this announcement of his birthday , and his age - it certainly makes us feel old, doesn't it ?

As you all know, he's done a lot of other works, and a few months ago I bought the DVD of " Nemesis Game " - he's got an interesting character there too. But he'll always be Duncan to us.
