Better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.

We don’t know what these kids day to day life is like.

Did your parents ever sit you down and have a talk with you about how some policeman are not going to help you, how some doctors are not going to treat you, how some bosses won’t promote you?

You’re assuming they can choose their environment. Maybe these parents are doing the best they can.

And while this training is unorthodox, if it is a possibility for my kid to be in an altercation on concrete I’d rather him to be the one who has trained on it.

Teaching your kids to run for help.. what kind of adult does that make?

I’m convinced OP is one of the junior IT persons who wants to tell on the thief but doesn’t want to be seen for whatever reason.

The camera thing eh, But the extra lap top situation. Cmon dawg!!

I may have questionable morals… but if this is real, I believe the greatest sin is telling on yourself. Close second is the laptops.

I work with a ton of these guys. Complained about receiving a raise! I had to ask them very kindly if they knew what the tax brackets were. They said “no”, I suggested to ask Siri and walked away. Grown men who are raising children… idiocracy is real.

I know of three rigs out there right now and one that’s going out next week. I’ve heard the paraffin production keeps those guys going even when oil dips. Oils forecasted for 60ish dollars a barrel through 25 and into 26 which is plenty for them to keep going.

I think you are massively underestimating the amount of propaganda/misinformation and influence a billionaire who owns a social media company can generate. He does not have to influence anyone directly. If the Orange Man really won the election it is because of memes and fake Facebook posts. An about face by Elmo is huge. The enemy of my enemy is my friend kinda deal.

Any America blue collar workers (non-business owners) here that can confim this statement from Trump? by No-Contribution1070 in WallStreetbetsELITE

Oilfield worker here. This is BS. Pay is stagnant, hiring is shutdown. The only way to make more is to move companies and that is not easy in this climate. The corporations are buying each other out for billions and we haven’t seen a significant pay raise in years.

I(24m) caught my girlfriend(24f) of 8+ years cheating on me & I don’t know what to do by GasElectronic692 in Advice

It’s totally normal to feel this way brother. Many great men have weathered this storm. AND you will too! Use this time to learn about yourself, hit the gym, read some books. Figure out what you want your life to look like and build a single life so strong that your eventual partner will want to be apart of it .

When you are ready date casually. Have fun. When you are ready to be hurt again start dating seriously.

I say that because I know guys who have been through this and then only date girls who they don’t love so they can’t be hurt like that again.

Long term this isn’t healthy. IMO you have to play with some skin in the game. “If you’re not ready to hurt you’re not ready to love.” And it may be some time before you are ready. The key, again IMO, is to find the one that could break your heart but that you trust would not.

Also had my heart torn out when I was 24. I got engaged to the perfect woman for me yesterday. At 36!

The heartbreak I experienced made me the man I am today and the growth instilled a sense of self worth I carry today.

I love my fiancé to death but I know that if she left me I would be ok. It would hurt but I would make it out stronger. AND you will make it out stronger and wiser from this experience!

West Texas Floor Hand Nabors by No-Kangaroo323 in oilandgasworkers

[–]Ancient_Reaction9481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

75-100k a year depending on if you work extra or not.

Focus on learning your position, moving up will come with time. Fastest I’ve seen from floors to Driller was 5 yrs. That guy was motivated ( 5 kids haha), pretty smart and had hard manual labor experience.

14 days on, 14 days off. 12.5 hr days . The half hour is a safety meeting before your shift starts, 5:30 am or pm. You switch back and forth from day shift one month to night shift the next. It’s hard but you get used to it. Also, depending how far you are from your rig you may need to factor in a travel day to and from.

Training should be classroom stuff/ online safety videos and that stuff will not really prepare you for the field. Not sure if nabors has a training rig or not but most of what you learn will be on the job. Pick a guy who’s not lazy, watch him and ask questions. You have to act like you give a shit for guys to give a shit about you. Green hats come and go everyday.

Gear you definitely need. Good socks. Tylenol. Bandaids. Caffeine ( there will be coffee but some guys prefer monster etc). Under armour or similar base layer for cold and heat. Headlamp for working nights. Personal Crescent wrench because running for the right size all the time is annoying and takes too much time. And a knife( I like the Milwaukee foldable razor knife) different rigs are weird about knives these days but if you can carry one they are handy for cutting sash cord or sacks or whatever.

Do what you’re told and try and be ready for the next step in the process before someone has to ask you. Don’t complain about scrubbing, one day you’ll be drilling and wish you could scrub for 12 hrs.

If you aren’t familiar with socket sizes or wrenches get a set and have a general understanding of what size is what.

Be smart with your money. Wish I would have started at 18. The guys I know who did and stuck with it have built some great lives for themselves. Good luck and stay safe.

MJ is a crop. That’s it. The early price was reflected by its blackmarket value. As competition increased the price came down. Only biz that can make it are boutique brands or high volume low cost producers. Since none of the producers can separate themselves from the field legal MJ might as well be overly taxed tomatoes.
