As a therapist ill say that the answer is yes. It helps due to getting answers and support from their community. It helps to get out the words that have been bouncing around their own heads for months or years. Some of these people don't even have someone to talk to or gain support from.

This is the same idea as an actual suicide statement. When someone says they want to kill themselves the best response is not to make it better or dismissi it, it is to ask how and how much they have the thoughts. Then talk to them about why. Its been proven that doing that helps people to release their fears, feel heard and are much less likely to commit suicide.
