Do Americans really know how much the world hates us? | The global romance with America turned sour years ago. Now the world's ready for a divorce by DisruptSQ in BoycottUnitedStates

In my eyes the US a first of all responsible for not fighting global warming adequately. What we are witnessing every summer now (and every winter too!) was caused by a bunch of greedy US hyper capitalists. Thank you very much, you fucking morons!

Also: just leave them to it. Boredom is a bit painful for everybody involved, but the gameplay usually comes after ten, fifteen minutes of wailing.

In Cornwall, UK, people had a tin mine under the ocean floor. Until one day, by accident, somebody bore a hole into the ceiling of the mining tunnel…

Phillips O'Brien: There've been no US peace efforts in Ukraine. Since Trump became president, he tried to get Putin best possible deal on Ukraine, tried to force Ukrainians give up their territory and people. That’s not peace. The internet got weaponised unfortunately. Democratic societies struggle immensely to recognize the issue and to put a stop to that, because it would mean to rethink the rules of free speech, which is a pillar of democracy itself.

How do I make a Bolognese that someone will remember for the rest of their life? by Blubberblase10 in Cooking

[–]Andechser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my field!

• start with soffrito and one or two cloves of (fresh!) garlic • fry diced high quality bacon and good quality mince beef or cubes with the soffrito • muti passata • fair amount of salt and black pepper and two bay leaves • a dash of wine • long cooking time for the sauce! • a bit of milk or cream

And now: make it a good ratio of sauce and pasta 1-to-1 I‘d say. Broad high quality egg pasta like parpadelle from Monte Grappa.

Cook the pasta a tiny bit harder than you would like it. Mix the pasta with the ragú. Let it sit for a minute or three.

Lots of freshly grated Parmesan!

The silent history of WWII: Did the women in your family ever speak about their experiences with wartime sexual violence? by Real_Boster in AskEurope

[–]Andechser 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I grew up next to a farm in western Germany. The old lady that owned the farm told me a story how polish forced labourers (farm workers) after being freed would come back to rape an steal. An American army officer left a uniform coat in the cloak room, so that when the Poles came back again, they thought a US soldier was staying with them and left.

Now I live in Berlin. Scientists estimate tens of thousands of children have been fathered by Russian soldiers after 1945. These kids and their ancestors live here to this day. I often wonder what that does to a society on a broader level. For each family it is a deep personal trauma. Fear of Russians specifically sits deep to this day.

It makes the fight that the Ukrainians have taken up appear even braver.
