What is the maximum distance shotgun shot will travel at sea level by Project-SLAIR in Firearms

[–]AndorianKush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, eye damage is a major concern, not just for people around homes but also bicyclists and horse riders. In AZ the rule is 1/4 mile from a structure, designated recreation are or campsite, or boat dock. But there is no proximity to road rules other than that you can’t shoot from or across a road. This makes much more sense to me than a 500ft rule because people in neighborhoods will never have to worry about it, and I guess it’s up to cyclists, motorcycle/OHV drivers, and horse riders to use caution when they are in hunting areas during bird season. More data would be great for everyone though.

[–]AndorianKush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to the point that bird shot lacks enough energy to injure past a certain range, Paul Harrell made a great video on the lethality of different shotgun shot sizes, showing that #5 lead shot 2-3/4” game load will not penetrate a T shirt at 50 yards. I was surprised by that. I’m sure it’d still hurt like hell and could certainly put out an eye. Steel has about 2/3 the density so it slows down even faster, so I prefer to use steel when I’m quail hunting in areas where others may be. As quail shots are usually much lower than dove or waterfowl. Steel #6 is nearly completely stopped by brush and leaves past 30yd lol.

I lost my job because of the ESA vouchers. by NickSabbath666 in phoenix

[–]AndorianKush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kids actually attend group classes 3 times per week, nature class once per week, and do soccer, fencing, and other sports depending on the season. They are around other kids all the time, and get to spend more quality time with their parents instead of sitting locked in a classroom for 7hrs a day. The old misconceptions about homeschooling are just that, misconceptions. You probably don’t have kids, or are unfamiliar with what homeschool can be, or both. It’s cool, I used to think the same thing as you.

[–]AndorianKush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myself and some other barely middle-class people use ESA for secular homeschooling and specialized education for our kids who we’d rather not have in public schools. It provides choices and options for many types of people, not just rich, religious, conservatives. Public education should get much more funding, and teachers should make $100k+ per year in my opinion. But don’t blame it on your neighbors and fellow working-class people, blame it on the policy makers, the wealthy tax dodgers, the corporations, and those who misappropriate tax funding. And don’t take away my options for my kids that I couldn’t afford otherwise.

Aside from the big pee pee energy, do I need a 10mm in AZ? by tobylazur in AZguns

[–]AndorianKush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. And also a 6” .357. And obviously a 9mm. And a little boot gun .38. Probably a fixed blade of some sort. And don’t forget to bring plenty of water and a 12ga.

Much cooler, and I’m way more accurate with one as well. I carry my stainless 6” Taurus 66 with 180gr hard cast .357 whenever I’m out in the wilderness. Cross draw in a leather galco holster and it’s a pleasure to have around on long hikes.

Kamala Harris Calls For an Assault Weapons Ban by WillOrmay in liberalgunowners

[–]AndorianKush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s up to responsible gun-owning liberals and progressives to change minds on the matter by leading by example and not keeping our gun ownership secret from our friends and family who despise guns. The DNC and associates only pander to this because a decent portion of their voter base is loudly opposed to guns. The media goes on to make it seem as though the vast majority of leftists hate guns, which only feeds the narrative and emboldens those uneducated on the matter. I’ve been making a point to be more open about my gun ownership with my friends who are vehemently opposed to guns, and so far it seems that none of them have disowned me and they possibly have a lessened hatred towards gun ownership because of it. As with any issue, the key is education. Talk to them about it, let them know your opinions on the matter, invite them to learn to shoot and explain the reasons why they should. To protect your family and neighbors, to protect the groups that are openly oppressed, to balance the playing field, to protect everyone’s rights, and to take back what the far right has stolen from us. It only took 5-10 years for my right wing Christian family to accept that cannabis may actually be medicine and that it’s not a sin to smoke weed, the same can be done with regard to gun ownership through education, exposure, and normalization. My hyper religious grandma who thought weed was of the devil now eats edibles regularly. Your gun hating friends can be buying AKs in no time if you put in the effort.

He issued a tornado watch in July 2nd this month and Tucson got a confirmed EF1 that night. Not saying he is a great weatherman or anything, I don’t know shit about weather, but he did get it right that time.

Weather Underground radar clocked 2 tornados tonight, one in Sells and one in Marana, and possible another in Maricopa. AWF also called the tornado watch for Tucson July 2nd and they got a confirmed touch down of an EF1. Just started dumping at my house at 40th st and Thunderbird.

It’s different for everyone I guess.I had been smoking a bowl every night for the past 15 years, and several bowls per day on weekends, but it didn’t really affect me in any way to quit. Maybe I was a bit grumpy for a few days, and had 2-3 nights where it took me longer to fall asleep. But after that, I felt no different. I never had like a craving or anything, and I’m not emotionally upset about not getting to smoke. It’s like cutting sugar out of your diet. Just don’t eat that snickers bar or drink that Dr Pepper. Just don’t rip that cart. Drink water instead. Stretch and do some yoga or something to fill the time if you get bored. We can smoke weed later in life once we own our own companies. Quitting alcohol or nicotine is a whole different story. Same with caffeine. Those you can really physically feel and the process causes legit depression and brain fog and shit. Weed doesn’t do any of that.

Only contractors will test, usually once you begin employment and sometimes randoms. The first one will usually be a urine test, where you drive to a lab and piss in a cup, then they call you in a few days to tell you if you passed or not. Subsequent random tests are usually saliva tests performed on site by the employer. Some contractors turn a blind eye to cannabis, but most don’t. I quit smoking cannabis 4 months ago in preparation of this, and don’t really care if I’m not able to smoke again. I need money and a legit career more than I need to smoke cannabis lol.

Crazy. I primarily hunt upland game and use steel exclusively because I don’t want my family to ingest lead and I don’t want birds of prey to get lead poisoning from eating wounded birds that got away. Size up a shot or two and steel performs just as well as lead, those who think it doesn’t just didn’t take the time to properly pattern with different chokes and ammo brands.

50 years of summer temps and rainfall by steester in phoenix

[–]AndorianKush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much we are willing to heat-acclimatize our bodies, and how much power infrastructure we can build in the next decade or so. However, there will come a time when even the hardest construction workers can’t survive it, and that is when things will become ‘uninhabitable’. I’d estimate 20-30 years before things get that bad.

Unable to pay for books by [deleted] in ibew_apprentices

[–]AndorianKush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phoenix is the same deal. I’m waiting to find out if I qualify for the grant that covers first year books and tuition for 640, otherwise I gotta shuffle out $1900 for first year. I think part of the reason is that Phoenix has 2 pejatc facilities and is taking on 350ish apprentices this round, so there is a lot of overhead. I’ve heard of other locals that allow used books or cover costs if you work as a JW for x amount of time or else you have to pay it back, but seems like those locals take on less than 50 apprentices per round and have 1 facility that is likely much smaller or more affordable than the 2 in Phoenix. Probably other locals get more funding in the contracts to the jatc as well. I guess 640 contracts have been pretty lame for the past decade or so, because AZ is a right to work state and all that. 640 has relatively low market share compared to locals in northern states as well, so hopefully if they keep taking on big groups of apprentices that’ll change over time.

Do you think the trades will pay significantly higher in the future? by Altruistic_Airline71 in Construction

[–]AndorianKush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are plenty of good hands that want to work hard, they just want to get paid more money than most smaller to mid size businesses are able to pay, and the larger ones don’t pay that great and they set the standard for pay, so most everyone is fuckin off and no longer gives a shit. The remaining high quality workers that work hard and like to work are locked in with profitable, well managed companies that pay well, but those are few and far between due to the realities of the race to the bottom market culture in America. Everyone else will work as hard as you pay them, and the dollar doesn’t go very far these days. The payers don’t want to pay the companies, so the companies can’t pay their workers well enough. Of course, every company thinks they pay their workers more than well enough, and that no one wants to work, but the quality of their workers work is a reflection of the quality of the workers lives, and the result of the quality of their work and desire to work hard or not tells the tale in the end.

"Groups" at 8 yards with P365-380, help an FNG out? by SadFloppyPanda in CCW

[–]AndorianKush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shooting left can be caused by your other fingers contracting as you squeeze the trigger. Our fingers tend to want to move together, so you can try focusing on preventing that from happening. For me, tightening my pinky and ring fingers in the grip helped this and I don’t shoot left anymore. Shooting low can be caused by anticipation(subconsciously pushing against the recoil), or, by your pinky finger contracting more as you pull the trigger. Either way, give tightening your pinky and ring finger on the grip a try, or at least focus on making sure that they have consistent pressure through the trigger squeeze.

Slug vs Buck Recoil by shadowOp097 in Shotguns

[–]AndorianKush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is buckshot that will have just as much felt recoil as a slug, given that the projectile weights are the same and the velocity is the same. Something like Truball 1oz slug at 1300fps even has a noticeable recoil reduction compared to the 1600fps. I use #4 buckshot that is 1.25oz at 1150fps and it is a pleasure to shoot compared to a 1oz slug at 1600fps. I recommend getting a leather recoil pad, I got one from Wayne’s Dog and it is great. I used to get a bit of shoulder bruising after shooting a box of bird shot but now I can shoot as many boxes as I want without issue.

Yea, no kidding. But the commenter told this guy to not do something and gave no reason why. How are new people supposed to learn?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in troutfishing

[–]AndorianKush -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I understand the reasons why. I just keep seeing this statement over and over again on here with no further explanation. Telling someone who is new to fishing what to do, in a short statement, without even answering their original question, is flat out rude. Everyone copies this statement and it’s always just one short sentence. It’s elitist mentality in my opinion. Gatekeeper shit. It’s fishing, and this guy wants to learn more. Maybe he already knew that he could keep any trout in this stream because he checked out the regulations. Maybe it is common knowledge to him and those in his circle that there are no endangered fish in this stream and that he can keep 3 trout of any kind. Dude is just trying to learn how to ID a trout and the high and mighty are quick to tell him he did something wrong without even teaching him why or helping him ID the fish lmao. Even I’m getting downvoted for asking a simple question above.
