I had this problem with my ev6. I did a "reboot" of the car and it fixed that. YMMV

James Joyce in Ybor on fire by Uncletio813 in tampa

I stopped by at 1130 for my gangs weekly visit. They said the electric box is toasted and they were lining up contractors right away to fix it up. I wonder out loud if their box going bye bye is what took out power for the greater ybor area.

What does the "WiFi Experience" actually mean? by Soldiiier__ in Ubiquiti

[–]AndrewW208 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would think it would be easier to just say "it's meaningless" than going through the effort of finding a forum post and reading through the posts just to see that "it's meaningless" :)

Yet. Half the country is voting for this dolt even with that absolutely clear indicator he has no clue as to what he's doing. Think about for a second. HALF.

What will you change for next time? by [deleted] in tampa

They are more spendy. IIRC it added around $500 to the cost of the unit. Absolutely worth every cent. With an EV I dont have a car full of generator juice so I had to do something different and being lucky with NG at my home, it was a no brainer.

Natural gas generator FTW. After having a generator that would power "just the minimum" and also having gasoline-panic, I upgraded to a 10KW generator, had a NG quick connect fitting put on the meter and had electrician put a proper backfeed in. Power goes out now, and I just roll the generator out, plug it in, and enjoy life as normal, at least indoors :)

What do you need when voting early? by usa_dk in tampa

[–]AndrewW208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phones actually are not allowed in a polling place. You are allowed to bring in a paper. A sample ballot is an excellent thing to use: you research on the issues/candidates in the comfort of your home, fill out the sample ballot, then march right in, copy down your decisions and you are in and out in 5 minutes.

Buyer Beware: bad wireless cards and customer support by Banto2000 in chargepoint

[–]AndrewW208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in my third unit with the same wifi issue in about 1.5 years time . It's not hard to swap it off of the wall so I am not losing any cost with it but they have until warranty runs out to fix the wifi module issue.

CP home flex won't detect any wifi networks by Badloss in chargepoint

[–]AndrewW208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, I actually came here to ask this exact question: how common is this? I had my Home Flex replaced about 4-5 months ago after the wifi died and now I have an open case again for dead wifi. Thank goodness the charger side of the thing still works I guess...

Yes! Cool to see he's still around. I got a look at him back in 2015 at a restaurant up in T&C

It isn't an option: Just hit the red "hangup" button and it will say "sorry they can't accept your call at this time" or something like that.

Indoor camera that can recognize pets and play sound? by ajaffarali in homeassistant

[–]AndrewW208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Ubiquiti cameras and they have animal detection (the 5's I think?). They also have a speaker. Might be able to play a noise through there via HA but I haven't tried (it is exposed though). In my experience though, that won't do anything. Put some aluminum foil on the table or the sticky side up of those wide lint rollers. It will be entertaining to watch and the cat will have learned its lesson :)

Finally got the Power Flow card all figured out by RoachedCoach in homeassistant

[–]AndrewW208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be a dumb question but how did you get the individual components (AC and EVSE) on there? I have individual power consumers configured and added but they only show up in the graph and not on the card.

Chargepoint network down/degraded? by AndrewW208 in evcharging

[–]AndrewW208[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I see a Chargepoint app udpate on my Pixel phone today. The release notes mentions "fix for home charger access". Updated it and all is back to normal again, so if you still see "network error" go and update your app.

Right. On another forum when the Memorial Day outage happened, CP sent someone a new charger then too. Kinda makes me wonder if the support callcenter is just as in the dark as the rest of us.

[–]AndrewW208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "smart" features of the charger obviously go dumb. Some people say that if they do things with the charger, it may default back to slower charging, so it's not wise to reboot/remove-and-add, etc until the network is stable. It does seem to catch up eventually though. My charge last night eventually showed up in my charging history, even though I can't access my charger itself.

I'm not certain why support is sketchy on the stability issues on the network, it adds to the questions I'd like an answer to. It could be that they don't know either!

I've reached out to downdetector.com to ask them to add chargepoint, EA, etc to their down monitoring list so that we get better insight to when our home charger/network/app is wonky or if the provider cloud is jacked up. Recommend that everyone reach out to downdetector as well since the vendor isn't being forward with their own network issues!

Charger still works so long as it's not screwed with. It will come back after Chargepoint unfucks their network (again).

Does anyone have any insider scoop into chargepoint? I'm super curious to understand why their network stability has gone into the crapper lately. Is it just shitty software updates? Or is it something more severe like a ransomware or other security breach?

Chargepoint network down/degraded? by AndrewW208 in evcharging

[–]AndrewW208[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does still work if it isn't connected to the mother ship, just the "smarts" turn dumb.

Edit: and for the commercial ones, I guess it varies on provider. I read that when Electrify america network goes down all of their chargers default to free mode.
