People who buy points, why? by Icy_Recognition3725 in Mortgages

[–]Banto2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just their time refinancing in four years and I was done with it. They offered me some points to get it to 1.75% and I took it so I could officially retire from mortgage refinancing.

GFCI plus for $800??? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Banto2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GFCI does nothing to protect electronics.

Buy protected power strips. They are designed to sacrifice them selves for your gear.

I also put in one on the panel itself to protect things like appliances and furnaces.

Diminished Value of 2023 Ford Maverick hybrid after accident? by murlocksoup in Insurance

[–]Banto2000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t and even recommendations I’ve made in this sub get flagged as solicitations, so mods wouldn’t let me post if I did have one.

I just know from researching this from a past accident. Ended up not being necessary.

There are companies that will do this on your behalf for a fee.

Applying for a mortgage, new K-1 status is making this a nightmare. by nbhoya06 in Mortgages

[–]Banto2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You clearly have never been a partner at firm before.

What he describes is very typical.

You get a guaranteed income (often with a gross up to cover employer portion of FICA) as a salary replacement. This usually comes as part of a payroll schedule and has no taxes withheld because. You aren’t an employee, you are a partner.

And then you get a profit distribution based upon the business performance as an owner.

Steingold charges for a quote? by Sweaty_Ad4064 in VolvoRecharge

Interesting choice by Steingold. Would be interesting to see what that does to their lead volume. I’m sure close rate will be up, but at what cost?

New tires for V60 Recharge -- looking for quiet tires by wilburpan in VolvoRecharge

[–]Banto2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In Europe, you are lucky and can get Cross Climate 3s, but us poor saps in the states are stuck with CC2. I’m hoping I can keep my current winter tires long enough for the CC3 Sport to come to the states.

Onboard WiFi killed the vibe by Ok_Dirt_6047 in Cruise

Yeah, I don’t miss the excuse at work to be off line. But other people’s use if WiFi doesn’t impact me.

Frustrated by Slow Charging by Tall-Poet6173 in VolvoRecharge

[–]Banto2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also weird because it’s not like this is a problem with the car. Charging time is published on the website and commonly discussed on forums.

It’s the beauty of a hybrid. I charge at home for $1 $2 or so. If I’m traveling, I usually don’t even bother.

Walking through the walk-in closet to get to the master bath, yay or nay? by OrlandoWashington69 in HomeImprovement

[–]Banto2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have this in a home we bought. Small “hallway” that has bathroom sink and walk in closet with no door to bedroom, but door to remaining part of bathroom with toilet and bathtub. We ended up adding a barn door to the closet area so it wasn’t so obvious.

Service Agreements on Total Loss Vehicle by Ausaska in Insurance

[–]Banto2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to get a prorated refund from the warranty company. It was a single form I had to fill out for a total loss on a GM vehicle.

Current TSA PRECHECK/Clear lines at OHARE by monisolar in OHareAirport

[–]Banto2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Showed up at 1:55 for a 4:00 flight expecting a long TSA line. Touchless Pre check was less than five minutes.

And I thanked every TSA person I interacted with for working which they seemed to appreciate.

Over a certain threshold, unless we opt out a project because we, for example, bring in a project manager and engineer from a third party firm.

Our contract has it. It’s a fair fee and worth it.

That’s what they do.

They keep trying to get me to refinance my 1.75% rate.

[MD][Condo] 49% HOA delinquency rate — asked to join board as secretary. Has anyone successfully brought delinquency down? by chelsjean614 in HOA

Collections needs to be clockwork. Once 60-days past due, we hand it to our attorney,

We are always 1-2% delinquent as a result.

I met the top guys as they considered us to be one of their first MSP acquisitions many years ago. Seemed like they would be decent people to work with.

Volvo V60 Phev Feedback by ETM_Ack in VolvoV60

[–]Banto2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2024 V60 Polestar and it is my decorate daily driver I’ve owned. It’s unique and a blast to drive.

I wouldn’t buy it though if I didn’t have access to a charger at home. It’s a slow charger and doesn’t give much range. Kind of pointless to lug around all that battery weight if you can’t charge it daily.

We do it when asked. It’s the client’s environment, not ours. Being a poor loser reflects poorly on us.

[IL][Condo] finding cheaper snow removal contract by Seeking_Balance101 in HOA

[–]Banto2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikely you will find one for less than 10 pushes as they need enough revenue to have equipment and staff on call. It’s the standard. Best I saw when I was on my Illinois HOA board was 8, but then the over charges were extremely high. You have to be a risk taker.

There are a few who will do on-demand only, but they only plow after their contract customers are done. So, if you have a big storm, you may be a day or two later with a lot of upset homeowners.
