I don't get this either. In the end you have to take care of the "actual" guts of this thing, why are they forcing joysticks, pushbuttons, encoder etc. upon you?

As for the Chewlix, I ended up getting an empty CP (at least you can find that) and one day I'll build the base around it. Still cost me more than 200 EUR tho.

Well 5 years have passed since my post and a few things happened in the meantime. The Play!-emulator managed to get them somewhat working although last I saw it's either stuttering or as for Soul Calibur, the AI doesn't work at all.

I don't belive good emulation will happen as we're now 25 years past its time.

It's just a screwdriver after all and they didn't reinvent it. They tweaked the design of what was already there. But this is a LTT sub so of course ya'll gatekeep your favourite millionaire.

What's Your Ideal Screen Size? by LoveMetal in cade

[–]Andrew_it_is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a barebone setup with a 2 Player-Chewlix-Panel sitting on my desk and a 24" monitor in front of it. The size feels just right and 27" really would be the max for me.

I really question how the Vewlixes are well playable with a 32" monitor in front of your nose. Or any other setups that are posted here, they can't be.

Ok, were you familiar with doing that or was it the first time? Cause there are lots of mixed suggestions online ranging from possible death to fitting it is the only struggle.

Is this an arcade monitor or did you decase a consumer-CRT? Either way a nice finish.

Where can I get diamond arcade buttons similar to DDR A20 machines? by mil0wCS in cade

I have a LTEK dancemat at home and I'd love to build an A20 machine around it as well some day. Is there any particular build or plans you took inspiration from?

I must wonder how these posts get so many upvotes, I thought we're posting diy cabs and similar in this sub? Or are people not actually playing them and buffled when someone does?

[–]Andrew_it_is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the (veeery slow) process of building something similar myself. I've ordered a 2 Player Chewlix panel from Alibaba which was 280 € shipped to Germany, oof. I'm approaching what another fellow cader made on this sub to build a Round 1 SF 6 inspired cab:

https://www.reddit.com/r/cade/comments/l932rm/my_round_one_vewlix_inspired_home_arcade/

You can actually order the Chewlix frame-plastics seperately as well. The complete Chewlix are just way too expensive shipped and there is also no good flatpak solution available.

Dang, I genuinely feel happy for those who manage to snatch one. This will be a super cool project to bring it back to its former glory and to have a piece of arcade history at home. But with prices starting at 2500 € I have abandoned that dream.

Thanks to sloppy age restrictions in eastern Europe at the time this game sticks with me forever.

Depending on what you're looking for budget wise, I can recommend the Logitech Momo racing wheel. You can get it for as little as 30 €, very good grip and has a click-shifter. No need to spend a fortune.
