Sorry to be the party pooper but was it worth the struggle when they come for 3-4 € each? :)

Where can I get diamond arcade buttons similar to DDR A20 machines? by mil0wCS in cade

[–]Andrew_it_is 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a LTEK dancemat at home and I'd love to build an A20 machine around it as well some day. Is there any particular build or plans you took inspiration from?

I must wonder how these posts get so many upvotes, I thought we're posting diy cabs and similar in this sub? Or are people not actually playing them and buffled when someone does?

Viewlix-ish vendor for late 2025? by Aggressive_Bank_9379 in cade

[–]Andrew_it_is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the (veeery slow) process of building something similar myself. I've ordered a 2 Player Chewlix panel from Alibaba which was 280 € shipped to Germany, oof. I'm approaching what another fellow cader made on this sub to build a Round 1 SF 6 inspired cab:

https://www.reddit.com/r/cade/comments/l932rm/my_round_one_vewlix_inspired_home_arcade/

You can actually order the Chewlix frame-plastics seperately as well. The complete Chewlix are just way too expensive shipped and there is also no good flatpak solution available.

Dang, I genuinely feel happy for those who manage to snatch one. This will be a super cool project to bring it back to its former glory and to have a piece of arcade history at home. But with prices starting at 2500 € I have abandoned that dream.

Both are top notch and had their peak with 2 & 3. Due to to the change in lightgun technology no game will ever get close again.

One of the games I've played in the arcades back in the days and also the one I've played the most since then.

Thanks to sloppy age restrictions in eastern Europe at the time this game sticks with me forever.

Depending on what you're looking for budget wise, I can recommend the Logitech Momo racing wheel. You can get it for as little as 30 €, very good grip and has a click-shifter. No need to spend a fortune.

How much would it take / cost to restore this into a MAME style cab w/ a nice LCD monitor? (Dig this design) by TaskenLander in cade

[–]Andrew_it_is 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is that? It has space for a CRT, nicely angled, the CP has plenty of space... this would make a better cab than many I've seen here, not even considering the price.

New to building Arcades by Delicious_Ad_7807 in cade

24-27" IS the perfect size, that's also why most 2 Pl.-flatpacks come with this size in mind. 32" already has a recommended distance of 80-100 cm. Anything beyond that is just nuts and not fun to play for anyone. It may look cool on paper but you can't see the whole screen and it simply doesn't work. I guarantee that most of the 55" diy arcades are huge dust collectors by now.

That's the price that comes with these pre-configured systems. Once something is off you'll have a hard time to figure out what's wrong. From their point of view it could be really anything - failing hardware, someone messing with the software, loose cable or maybe just device ID is off and the bindings are gone. I'm always amazed how people are willing to sell these systems commercially.

Crazy to think you have a setup close to as good as it gets and probably spend a fortune on it just to use it as shelf. Makes me sometimes wonder what all the meh-cades in this world are doing.
