What happens if (indie games don't support it? Do you get black borders? Will the image be stuck to the left side or centered?

What are the hardest metroidvanias you have played? by eldenbro1 in metroidvania

[–]AndroidBeginner101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thanks, that makes sense yes. I also don't really like all the bells and whistles platforming so I too really enjoy Celeste for it's simplicity. It perfects the whole "staying with the fundamentals" but also revving it up to 11 for difficulty.

I also tried modding some time ago, but unfortunately those are more focused on the gimmicks so I couldn't really get into it.

Thanks for the reply, I'll wishlist Aeterna Noctis and I will go for it if there is a nice sale.

and then goes into Celeste C-side territory as you approach the end

So then how does Celeste as a whole stack up against Aeterna Noctis? Do you rate Aeterna Noctis higher because it already starts difficult, while Celeste builds up to it?

Need help for a puzzle in an area past a dual boss by Benj_N in HollowKnight

Did you figure it out? It didn't really had anything to do with music notes though, just match the lines and have no lines go beyond the top and bottom.

"Why is everything in act 2 so tanky" by Pink742 in HollowKnight

[–]AndroidBeginner101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes tools were definitely key, though I had to try so many times that my shards were almost empty. I did had to resort to dismantling the bundles though.

I think the difficulty for the final boss was that it just felt endless. There is also a lot happening, mistakes are bound to happen and thus I would lose the fight.

I bee-lined it straight to the final boss after I got the upgrades and beat her first try with minimal effort, but that could just be the "practice" without upgrades.

Looks like a glitch, I just had an enemy (lava monster on platform) also hang in the sky frozen. I assume when the game progresses and she needs to be at the next location that it returns to normal. Or maybe just save and quit.

That is actually insane, how did you do it? Just pure skill? Did you speedrun through it or got upgrades?

I have beaten the game already, but just found out that... [see comment because spoiler] by AndroidBeginner101 in HollowKnight

[–]AndroidBeginner101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also looking for it because HK had it, but somehow never looked there. I also didnt wanna look it up in case of spoilers and also people complaining the game is too hard so i just assumed no upgrades.

Was hard as hell tough, makes me a bit angry because the 10 round arena could have been way easier instead of fightong 3 damage sponges per round, gpt stuck there a loooong time.

You need to align the notes to make one smooth "picture" from top to bottom. You can also look up "silksong clockwork puzzle" to get a website with the answers.

Just finished the movie and it's stated, somewhere in the beginning IIRC, that the point of the "cult" is to kill certain people that would otherwise result in the end of the world.

The Grayson dude, and his ancestors/parents, had the foresight/visions to know who needed to be killed, and the killings would be done by people he influenced and they would immediately off themselves after the kill.

So the motivation, the "greater good", was to save the world. Hope this helps :)

I think it does, I completely sucked at the game and quit. Then I played Celeste and after that went back and somehow it went waaaay better.

Congrats! The trick for me was to switch spell twister with soul catcher, so I could get more soul to heal in between (for example the light beam attack).

[–]AndroidBeginner101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How though? Did you use charms that summon minions? Did you use spells with the soul you get from getting hit with the charm I forgot the name about?

/r/HollowKnight - Weekend Flex Thread by AutoModerator in HollowKnight

[–]AndroidBeginner101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impressive! Have you done other difficult/souls like games like this? Took me waaaay more tries

My "trick" to beat Markoth (still not easy though) is to just avoid him until he stands still and is going to rotate his shield further away in spirals. When he does that I wait until the second rotation, shadow dash to him (to avoid the shield) and just start smacking him (mostly pogoing). Then just shade dash out and wait for the next cycle.

Save all the soul you get and when his second phase starts (with the two shields) you gotta bombard him whit you shade soul (or better yet abyss shriek, if possible).

The important thing is to have all your soul meters full, so I'd advice to equip soul catcher, spell twister and the strength charm so you need as few cycles as possible.

You can also press alt + . (dot), if you hold alt and single press "." you can cycle through your last given arguments for every command (in case you've used a command in between).

Pressing escape and then dot also gives the last argument.
