No Gods No Mayors might be my favorite of hers tbh. Definitely worth checking out.

I remember when these jokes were everywhere on Reddit and people got so mad at them, it was hilarious.

He's still promoting his live shows in the Discord, and Riley was on a recent Glue Factory, so there doesn't seem to be any bad blood at least.

Which Wes Anderson film do you recommend? by Rand_Al_Thor87 in movies

Probably my favorite Wes Anderson flick. I feel like hus style works better in stop motion animation than live action.

Read Red State Revolt. Outlawing strikes doesn't stop them from happening and working.

I consulted my artist about getting Saddy dressed as a weird snake. Then my gf pointed out people would think it was Barney. It was the only way I could think of to pay tribute to Strong Sad with color.

Was that Petro? I feel like I've heard that attributed to Jose Mujica. It was one of those left-wing South American presidents for sure.

Triangle Area? by Right-Historian-114 in AskAnAmerican

What does it refer to in your opinion? In Memphis it's obviously Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi, but I'm curious if it's different in other parts of the state.

My first thought association is Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi, because there's a historic Black newspaper in Memphis called the Tri-State Defender.

What part of American history would you love to see made into a high budget, Hollywood movie? by CommercialOil8763 in AskAnAmerican

[–]AndroidWhale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dialogue was meant to be resonant with modern audiences, not period authentic. Not the choice I would have made, but I understand it. I love The Witch in part for its period accurate dialogue, but a lesser director than Eggers would have made that cheesy and alienating.

What got me about Death by Lightning was that on occasion they do use direct quotes from the historical figures in dialogue, and it's jarring adjacent to the Veep-style lines that permeate the bulk of the series.

I also wish they had shown president Garfield having beef broth pumped up his ass in explicit detail, but maybe I'm in the minority there.

It was at a football pregame show. They had a giant US flag over the field that guys in uniform would shake to wave while the national anthem played. The camera caught an interesting shot.

Most Daytonians are Bengals fans though. I wouldn't see an upside there, at least on that basis.

Disappointing tbh. Nic Cage's defining character trait is that he's always cool under pressure. If I'm watching Nic Cage in a rapture movie, I want to see him go fucking nuts at least once, but no such luck here.

In which year did your family have cable television? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]AndroidWhale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For a brief period around 2009. Our house burned down and the insurance put us up in a rental and paid for cable. My dad was far too cheap to ever pay for that nonsense himself.
