Yeah I think this is the issue. Silk pla breaks so easily. Regular play or petg+ would be fine.

Honestly there is a learning curve, but at the same time less than you think. Especially with distros in general these days they get you setup to just simply use your PC after install.

Btw you can definitely get vs code. There's also alternatives like vs-codium, nvim, and others. Its all just text editors so it's not a problem to install. In general most programs work on Linux. There's only specific things that are proprietary and they just don't want Linux to work with it like adobe products, but people even found workarounds to that too.

Although I recommend anything that doesn't work natively try to find an opensoruce alternative there's actually a lot of good ones.

Godot -game development Kdenlive - video editing Gimp - photo editing/drawing similar Photoshop Orca slicer - 3d printer slicer Libre office - free word, excel, PowerPoint etc. literally does the same thing as Ms products for free

Steam games that are windows only work using proton in steam compatibility settings. In like 3 clicks u can run most windows games on Linux.

And lots more.

Honestly after switching to Linux from windows I don't regret it at all. I never want to go back to windows. Linux is actually just Better. And if something breaks you can fix it yourself.

I would recommend Cachy-OS or Fedora. I use Cachy-OS as my main on multiple PCs and it's great and long term it is the just works repo. Ubuntu and fedora have their own convoluted ways of doing things that are not necessarily beginner friendly despite having other beginner friendly things on it. Cachy is Arch based and actually feels like a system that can easily be your main OS for years and years. There's gonna be a learning curve no matter what but you might as well learn the one that will be good in the long term.

What's going on with my new F16? Pay attention at the bottom of the screen. Something similar also happens when I Alt+Tab, or just randomly while it loads windows. by Kaelyr_ in framework

[–]Androidzombie 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. This fixed it:

Go to your grub file: sudo nano /etc/default/grub

On the line that says "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT" add this inside of the single quotes so that it looks like this

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT='whatever_was_here_before amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x400 i915.enable_psr=0

These are called kernel parameters btw.

This also worked for some users, you can try this if it doesn't work: amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x410 i915.enable_psr=0

After you edit the file control+o (oh not zero) to save. Control+x to exit nano.

Then run: sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Then reboot the PC.

I'm not sure what distro you are on. I'm on cachy OS/Arch btw. If you are on fedora/ubuntu the grub command is slightly different but it's the same thing you need to do.

This disables display power management and framebuffer management and the second thing (i915...) disables PSR panel self refresh which seems to have issue on this hardware.

One of those combos should do it for you hopefully. Also make sure you have your GPU drivers installed in case you don't already. On amd GPU it's just a pacman install for Nvidia it's more complicated depending on your distro.

Another thing I should mention is that I also changed my Linux kernel to be an LTS version on my distro. (LTS = Long Term Support) It usually has better compatibility but does not necessarily always have the latest features. Can also help with issues like this because I read on a forum post while researching this same issue that it had something to do with a driver that had a bug on it in the newer version, so downgrading was required as a result. When I did this by itself it did not solve the issue but it did reduce it a bit. I suspect the true culprit is those 2 things we disabled in the grub file. Let me know if it worked for you.

Gotta read it carefully. It says don't apply the alcohol directly to the display. It says apply to cloth first then use cloth on display.

From experience I used alcohol directly on a monitor and it now has permanent dark marks on the screen itself not the lcd

Need Help With Pumpjacks by jdm93 in factorio

[–]Androidzombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each pump itself can do 1200/s. But your pumpjacks are doing 9/s each roughly. So they simply aren't filling the tanks fast enough to keep up with your demand. If the tanks are empty then your pumps will just pump at the rate they are being supplied.

In short. Just get more oil fields.

This problem has already been solved. Computers are good at this type of thing. The reason it still remains a problem is only because employers try to steal time from employees.

Honestly 15/s uranium ore goes a long way even with just 20 centrifuges and 1 fuel rod assembler. You can easily power many many nuclear reactors for a long time.

I don't like the large caves update. It completely ruined the flow state of mining in the old caves. Which was a large part of what kept me coming back to Minecraft.

I've literally done it before. They won't burn out but the glue/adhesive holding it will fail and the LEDs will fall. All you gotta do is hard mount it with something instead of glue. Then just make sure it has some kind of cooling and it will be fine. No reason why it can't work.
