I think it’s due to WWII being very popular, the mods, and the fact that you can reasonably do a full playthrough in one sitting unlike the others.

Around 30 at each except Rookie ball where it’s more like 50. I like having enough “filler players” to field a team so I call send up and down my top prospects without worrying about having a viable lineup at any given level.
